Against the wise man's wishes, the persona from When I Was One and Twenty by A.E Housman didn't follow his advice-how relatable the persona was. We, the youth, tend to disobey orders and do reckless things. We do this because we want to do certain things and nothing's going to stop us from making it happen. We're stubborn. We do what we want. Such attitude was also seen in the main character in Footnote to Youth by Jose Garcia Villa. The main character, Dodong, is seventeen years old. He is of the youth-still young and naive yet he wants to marry in such a youthful age. Such pieces of literature show how the youth can be difficult to handle. If they want to do something, they'll do it without thinking. They do not consider the consequences that will come in the future. I agree with the thoughts from the pieces. Yes, we young people tend to act reckless and do stuff that we want without really thinking about the outcome. It's hard to say, but it's true. We ignore the advice of our elders and we become ignorant. Maybe it's because we're kind of in denial. We do not think of the possible negative outcomes or consequences because we really don't want that to happen, if such negativity really happens;that's the time when we'll only realize that yes, we should have listened to the advices given to us. That maybe we should have done what's right. Well, guess what, you didn't. The pieces, as i have said, were very relatable. Maybe it's because the characters themselves are also shown as young people. It's not just the characters though;it's also the lessons in the pieces that made an impact. Lessons concerning reality make us realize and reflect on our wrong doings. We may be guilty in the end but still, life goes on. We need to do better next time and try to avoid the mistakes we have done in the past.
