Killer Queen || William Afton x Reader fic || Chapter 1, Pt 1/2
A strange place to want to go and live but since just loosing my job back at my now old home and a recently inherited my childhood family home let in my hands, I figured I would move back here for a little while just to get back on my feet after everything.
First things first whilst driving down the streets of Hurricane is looking out for a new job, whilst the house is lovely and brings back a lot of different memories; bad and good for me- I need money to sustain living and simply just existing here.
Driving down these streets feels strange now, everything's changed so much. Besides the houses of course, all the old stores I remember are different, lots of buildings I remember gone or left to rot. Looks like the neighbourhood has taken a bit of a hit, no one seems to being taking care of it anymore or each other for that matter.
Despite all of this I am thankful that the house was left to me, I know I am not very favoured in my family so I was quite surprised when it was announced to be left in my care. Probably just to leave me another issue on my plate as a slight 'fuck you' even after death, typical.
Finally I arrive at the house and pull into the drive way, it is very overgrown from the last time I remember it years ago and the pictures from the wake. Although remembering how my neighbours would used to come out and help tend the garden, I doubt they are still here and even if they were they would be far too old to be doing work like that.
After a minute of staring at the run down looking house I slowly step out of the car, the air quickly feels different here. It feels strangely condensed, confined. Despite everything, moving away for years this house still manages to bring me back to those times of feeling trapped here. Caged.
Deep breath in, hold and deep breath out. They aren't here anymore, they are gone, the house is mine now; I keep remining myself to calm the caging feeling plaguing the outside of the house.
I wander to the back of my car opening the trunk to get my main suitcase of my stuff out so I can immediately get my bedroom and clothes sorted before it gets any later, plus to stretch my legs after such a long drive from state to state.
Grabbing the key from my front jeans pocket I slowly unlock the door hoping the door doesn't crumble apart if I push it too hard, it creaks open slowly showing an empty and slightly run down inside. It looks better than what I thought it would, I expected more broken floorboards and smashed lightbulbs but its surprisingly together just needing a bit of cleaning and minimal maintenance.
The boards look old but still together, lights seemingly still working, some bugs appear to of moved in but that will be temporary if I have anything to say about it. Even old candles I used to love and left behind are still in place as I left them years ago.
Shaking my head trying to get all of those feelings away, I can't get caught in nostalgia and old feelings; I need to find a job, clean the house and just try to make it out of this mess I've somehow gotten into.
Wandering up the stairs I notice all the rooms have mostly been completely cleared out besides my old room with boxes all over the floor, shelves half empty with some being put away whilst others left, my bed still clean and in tact surprisingly.
Considering how much my siblings used to visit, I wouldn't be surprised if they slept in here, It's the only door in the house with locks that hold besides the front and back doors.
Moving a couple of boxes around I manage to make the space feel a bit more liveable, my suitcase gently placed on the bed and some neatly folded clothes being placed next to it, unpacking some of my essentials too before deciding to go for a walk for a while.
I need to clear my head for a bit and stretch my leg out after that drive, so I decide to walk around the neighbourhood, its still relatively light outside and I can check out some places for a job.
The further I go down into the neighbourhood, the better more kept together the houses look and somehow more expensive looking cars outside. There was a strange purple one I spotted that made me giggle and shake my head, what a strange colour for a car.
Continuing on walking through the street I start to hear music, oddly intriguing. I remember this place being relatively quiet, remembering all of the old people who used to yell at me for making too much noise near their property when I was a kid; a quiet chuckle escaping me at the memory.
The closer I get the more I slowly understand, it looks like some kind of pizza joint- but awfully colourful with people almost bursting out the door. Looking up I see the sign reading 'Freddy Fazbear's Pizza', strange name for a pizza joint but I shrug it off and decide what could go wrong.
Looking at the whole place from the outside it seems very busy, lots of lights, and a piece of paper in the window. The closer I get is when it clicks that it's a job listing, a giant span of letter stating 'Now Hiring' and it feels almost like fate.
But entering feels like a mistake the second I step in, it's very incredibly loud in here. But looking around the place I quickly understand why, it's a family pizza place- now the name makes more sense. I didn't think they had these in this area,
This place is massive on the inside, checkerboard flooring spanning across the whole restaurant, a couple of corners I cannot even see that I assume lead to opposing rooms to the main large one. Large long tables seemingly specially for birthday parties and to fit lots of guests into one place I assume.
Thanks to me not paying attention to what I am doing I almost get run down by an employee wearing a uniform looking like it came out of a 1950's diner including the roller skates, she is holding a birthday cake and heading towards one of the bigger tables full of tiny children eating pizza and screaming quite loudly for an already loud room.
Watching from a distance I see a large birthday cake which I assume has the child's name written on it and a sparkler inside the cake- is that even safe for a child to be that close by to a firework. I shake my head a little- never mind I'm sure they know what they're doing.
My vision drifts over to where all the colourful lights and most of the kids seem to be gathered together, some curtains opens to reveal- animatronics. A bear that sings, a Bunny that plays the guitar and a Chicken with a judgemental looking cupcake- this place keeps getting stranger by the second.
Scanning over the area a little more I notice posters but there's four of them on it, a Fox too that looks a little like a pirate. But he doesn't seem to be anywhere around here but I just shrug it off, must of moved him or he's somewhere else around here.
This places cleanliness does not seem the best, every time I lift my feet my shoes seem to stick to the floor and make a peeling sound that makes my spine ache. However looking around the food actually doesn't look half bad, it looks nice surprisingly.
And in another effort of not looking where I am going like the clumsiest person on this earth, I manage to bump into someone and fall backwards against the floor. I am going to regret that later when trying to lay down later-
"I am so sorry there dear, are you okay?, Did you hurt yourself?,"
The voice definitely sends me a little confused- didn't I just bump into this guy, and he's stretching his hand out to me too. What is this place and what are they putting in this food,
"I'm okay, thank you for the help-,"
I let him help me up and I promptly dust myself off before looking back up to study the man, shorter than most of the guys I've met although he definitely looks older than most of them- and a lot more cheerful.
His hair and beard is just as bright as his personality too, although his eyes are a darker shade they seem to light up just like the rest of his personality. This guy is far too happy and it's a little unsettling to witness.
"So- what is this place?,"
I ask him curiously hoping to get someone else's opinion and hopefully a bit more insight into what this place is,
"It's Freddy's, what more is there too it y'know. There's nothing like it anywhere else",
Looking back around at the greasy floors and screaming children-
My response is quiet and a little tone deaf but he still keeps his smile despite the comment,
"I'm one of the co-owners here, it's usually a lot busier than this and I do a lot more running around. Today is a calmer day,"
The way my head turns so quickly towards him it almost gives me whiplash- hang on one second,
"Today's a quiet day?!, I dread to think of a busy day here is like,"
My mood lightens hearing the man besides me chuckle, he's like an old man stuck in a younger mans body- it's very dad like of him,
"You've seen nothing, the arcade gets hectic no matter what,"
"There's an arcade here too?!,"
I exclaim surprised, Oh my god this place is massive and that area is apparently busier than this one- this place is pure chaos,
Another quiet chuckle from him makes me turn towards him once more in curiosity,
"Although I will say I've never seen you before around here, are you new in these parts my dear?,"
"Just moved back into a childhood home of mine, decided to go for a little walk stumbling across here and I came in seeing the job listing in the window,"
I say rubbing the back of my neck nervous at this whole situation being as hectic and everywhere as it is, but the second I look at his face again it's like his eyes have lightened up like a puppy dog seeing a treat for the first time.
"I would delighted for you to join our team, people like you are just the people we are looking for at Freddy's,"
I think for a second- they want tired, worn out, college drop outs with no job and slight desperation. For this place, it must be a magnet for people like me,
"If you follow me to my office we can start the interview process right away,"
And like a dumbass, I decide why not and follow him to his office through the halls of Freddy's.
