I've become bored with my media library so I've been using youtube more, and it's harder than ever to find content...

I mean there's more content than ever that looks like it'd appeal to me, but it's all low effort garbage. Someone in a bedroom streaming studio looking into a ring light reading wikipedia to me, and/or just regurgitating the same info that's been circulating about <subject> for the last decade.

And the thumbnails, god youtube thumbnails have always been the lowest common denominator type garbage. Trying to get people who are barely more than a fucking brain stem to respond. I feel insulted scrolling through youtube half the time. Even decent channels have to craft thumbnails for 80 IQ retards.

The slop is pouring in and it's difficult to find the good shit...so I've started just ignoring videos that are just a couple days old with tons of views--with tons of views being subjective based on the thumbnail and channel name and how I feel and etc. My notion here is that if that many people liked it that quickly it's probably garbage.

Once on IMDB I saw a “goof” which was that during a scene set in India(?), the light flicker was at the wrong frequency (in hertz). I wish I knew what movie it was to show you guys, I want to say it was some Marvel shit.

I always wondered how this person knew that. Was there an amazing Indian electrician who just instinctively felt the flicker rate was off? Did they go frame by frame and count the flickers per second?

Did you know that soda machines at restaurants and movie theaters spy on you? That most common new cars now record your sexual preferences and send it to the manufacturer (and also data about anyone who also gets in your car, walks by your car, and maybe happens to be within visual range of your car)? That grocery stores are trying to force customers to download an app to scan barcodes on shelves instead of putting up prices, so the app can scan the phone, decide how much that customer should be squeezed for, and adjust the price? That more and more innocent people are being sent to jail for crimes committed hundreds of miles away because an AI facial recognition algorithm spit their faces out and the cops didn't bother to do the most basic of checks?

I am not uptight about privacy because I'm hiding something. I'm uptight about it because the people who dismiss my right to privacy are dangerous to you and me and our families, personally, all the time.

And often, they are assholes, too.
