I’ve been gone for far too long

Oh hey everyone! I’ve been really inactive for like 1,5 years. Whew! Meanwhile I’ve started practising a new sport (Buhurt or Bohurt), where I put on a steel armor and hit my similarly armored friends with blunt swords and axes and maces. It’s pretty cool!

I’m also trying to get into the university of applied sciences to become an electric engineer. Turns out this design thing wasn’t very easy to make into a career... But electric engineers are always needed!

Yeah, what else? Oh, I’ve been working as a cleaning lady for the whole year. It’s been surprisingly nice, even though I never really wanted to be a cleaner. I’ll keep on working until the end of october, but then, all things must come to an end. I’m planning on some homeland travelling to my old home town (all Kuopio people ahoy, let’s meet!!!) and Helsinki and maybe Joensuu too if I have enough time and money.

Let’s hope it doesn’t take another 1,5 years for me to write again! :’D

It's 23:59 when I start writing this. I'm on my way back home on a night bus. Today i got up early to go work on my dad's birthday present at a forge in another town; the present is a handmade holder for a bottle of whiskey (some good quality single malt, obviously :p) and two glasses. I had prepared the parts last time I was at the forge, so now I only had to assemble it and do a little finishing touches. Well, it took longer than expected, and I ended up working for about 12 hours! The present is ready, though, and I'm really happy with it! Tired but happy, now I'm just waiting to get home. Soft, fluffy, warm bed is waiting for me!

Finally I had the inspiration to actually draw a new self-portrait! This is also my frist proper drawing with Krita. Seems to work alright!

Ok so I have two pairs of pliers and a 10 mm diameter steel pipe and next week I’ll go buy 5 kg roll of 2 mm steel wire. Guess what I’m gonna make? :)

#i read a post once that described 90s kids as the generation of nostalgia #because so much technological advancement happened in such a rapid timeframe when we were growing up #that we can clearly remember having technologies that are now obsolete #like going from a corded hugeass phone to a small computer in your pocket just within our formative years is a major thing #and it sparks a nostalgia for our seemly ‘simpler’ childhoods #because so much rapid development makes it seem like it was a lot longer ago than it actually was (x)

Just to add onto that, our childhood wasn’t even technology based. We grew up knowing of chalk, skateboards, jump rope, street hockey, playgrounds, butterfly collecting, etc. Slowly technology took over our lives and now there are hardly kids playing outside in the summer. We can clearly remember our childhood as it was and now we can see the clear line between it. We were the generation right smack in the middle of it all. Our parents were of non-tech and our children/young siblings will be all tech.

Not to mention, ours was the last generation that grew up with all those bright promises of “work hard, go to college, and you’ll have a successful life,” only to find those hopes abruptly dashed when the housing bubble burst. Milliennials have grown up expecting that disappointment, because for them, the problem has been there since Day One.

So 90s kids aren’t just nostalgic…we’re BITTER. And we ache for those days when we could still think that the world was boundless and full of the opportunities we were promised since the first day of kindergarten.
