You have been booped by this empty wrapping paper tube.
Reblog to boop all of your followers with it.
Imagine being so caught up in your own gross biases that you have more compassion for a toad than a human person. Can’t relate.
I---a Snape fan---am going to argue with this one: namely that the primary trauma/threat was to the toad. I argue that the Trevor Incident was first and foremost an assault on Neville, because a threat to a loved one, even if that loved one is “only” an animal, is fucking traumatizing. Furthermore, the nature of this particular threat, namely Snape making the outcome dependent on Neville’s performance in a task he’s already at least partially wrecked, is calculated to push responsibility for the failure onto Neville. If Trevor is poisoned (though admittedly there is no certainty Snape was going to go that far and a fair likelihood that he was counting on Hermione’s assistance to get Neville’s potion to a successful or at least inert finish), Neville would feel that he failed his pet by being useless at potions.
There are very few feelings worse than seeing a loved one threatened and being poorly equipped to save them, and while the Marauders remain utterly inexcusable in the persistence and depth of their cruelty, Snape comes as close as he ever does to joining them here in this situation, and it’s not due to any harm done to the toad at all.
I think that’s partly the argument, though - it’s not to suggest that Snape is being nice or kind or fair in the scene with Neville and Trevor, but that the two scenes are not regarded as being equal.
For the reasons you outline, it is reasonable to be outraged about the events in the potions class - but some regard Snape as entirely monstrous for his actions in that scene whilst simultaneously handwaving the Marauders’ actions in Snape’s Worst Memory as ‘boys being boys’, and that’s troubling.
COVID-19 is sweeping through one of America’s poorest and most at-risk communities.
“Navajo Nation — in the “Four Corners” area, with land that borders part of Northeastern Arizona, Southeastern Utah, and Northwestern New Mexico — has been hit hard by COVID-19. So far there are 354 confirmed cases with 15 confirmed deaths. As with much of the nation, the testing picture is incomplete. Navajo Schools stayed open two days longer than non-reservation schools, but the Navajo Nation has taken up strong distancing precautions since then. The Diné have now issued stay-at-home orders and instituted a strict curfew. They’ve also declared a state of emergency.
The seriousness of this response isn’t without precedent. The Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918-1920 was devastating for the Navajo Nation. According to historical records, 12 percent of the population perished, or 3,377 people. So far, COVID-19 has mortality rates anywhere from less than one percent to ten percent or more, depending on a long list of factors. But preparedness seems to be a major determiner and Navajo Nation is woefully ill-equipped to fight off a virus like this. It’s certainly worth noting that 2009’s Swine Flu was four times more deadly in Indian Country than the rest of the U.S.
Diné attorney and leader Ethel Branch has set up the Navajo & Hopi Families COVID-19 Relief Fund on GoFundMe (she also set up a Relief Fund for the Havasupai). This is the fastest and most direct way you can help people right now.
So far the Relief Fund has 2,000 families seeking assistance. The money is going to packages that are being dispatched throughout Navajo Nation. The Guardian reports that each package is filled with “flour, beans, rice, canned soups, dried meat, fever and cough medicine, as well as fresh vegetables, fruit, and meat when available.” These are crucial lifelines for many Diné.
So far, the Navajo & Hopi Families COVID-19 Relief Fund is at about 50 percent of its goal. You can donate directly right here.”

If y'all don't hear from me. I'm actually dead.
Please just stay home.
Thanks to whoevet made this post!!! My allergies kicking my ass right now. I got scared for a min
Heres the the thing, Snape apologists, it's cool if you like him, it's cool if you ship snily, it's cool if you hate james; But let's get something straight. He wasnt bullied.
"Snape never missed a chance to hex James."
A quote!! From the book!! Maybe not an exact one, its eleven at night and I'm not stealing my mother's copy, but it's pretty damn close.
That's all the proof I should give, but that wont do justice, as it hasn't for years, so I'll go on.
Did you guys do PBIS in school? If you hadnt, I'll give you the run down. Your principal, assistant principal, or the school aides will come to your class room, and talk to you about behavior. They usually do it every day for a week or two; when you go back to school, and every week after breaks. Each day is a different topic (classroom rules, bathrooms, cafeteria, assemblies, etc) The one we'll talk about today is bullying.
There are four signs of bullying. If you are being bullied, all of these must apply, or it will not be bullying.
One way
On purpose
Repeated
Hurtful
There are even hand signals, that were drilled into our heads at the ripe age of six.
One way (hold one finger up), On purpose (point), Repeated (drawl a circle in the air), Hurtful (mimic crying).
Now, from my research, it seems, James and Snapes situation, was not one way, therefore, making it not, infact, bullying. Thank you, have a good day.
This is absolutely horrific.
The information you were given as a child is inaccurate. Fighting back against a bully, standing up to a bully, retaliating against a bully - these things do not make a person any less of a victim of bullying. You do not have to be the ‘perfect’ saintly victim in order to be considered a victim of bullying.
I am absolutely staggered that anyone can read HP and witness the actions of James and Sirius in Snape’s Worst Memory, and then handwave it away as not being bullying simply because one of those bullies later claims - to Harry, who is appalled at the behaviour he witnessed - that Snape carried on hexing James.
You have failed to consider that the bully’s claim might be inaccurate; we have no way of knowing whether it is factually accurate as we do not directly witness such events - yet you have exonerated the bullies based on this single statement.
That’s without getting into the wider discussion of whether the Marauders spending years bullying someone - and the reader actively witnessing the scene where they horrifically bully someone simply ‘because he exists’ - means that it would be understandable if their victim felt that they had to strike first, lest a similar scene play out again.
It is indisputable that Snape was bullied. I genuinely hope that this was a misguided attempt at bolstering your favourite characters online, and not a genuine display of your understanding of bullying. If this is how you truly feel about the topic of bullying, you would do well to research the topic of bullying further, and not rely on simplistic messages taught to you at the age of six.
what kind of victim blaming nonsense is this?
ON + symbolism and interpretation
