we need to bring back old school tumblr communication and im so serious. sending an ask to a mutual just to say hello. seeing three different asks in your inbox all asking how your dentist appointment went. seeing a post you think one of your mutuals would enjoy and tagging them/sending it to them in the dms. nowadays its just silently liking a post or (if youre feeling extreme) replying under posts. WHAT HAPPENED TO US!! we used to be a proper community!!!! #LetsBringWhimsyBack
the whole 'nobody would miss me if i were gone' line of reasoning is so completely and mindblowingly false, it's almost laughable if you take a couple steps back. there's a lady at work who has been there for maybe two or three weeks and has only talked to me a handful of times, ask where the necklace i usually wear went. another person asked where i was cause i wasn't scheduled for about a week. i regularly think of friends who have deactivated their accounts or who i've lost contact with and what id tell them. i still think about people i haven't talked to for years even though i didn't know them well. people still think about you even if you're a passing specter on the street. and that's not even holding a candle to how much the people who are personally involved in your life care. people do notice and care. all the time. it might be hard to see it or remember it but people do care. ily.
mmmmmm not a fan of religious characters in shows being encouraged to go against their beliefs portrayed as personal empowerment and A Good Thing™
How is going against things you were taught to believe from birth and thinking for yourself not literally personal empowerment.
Concept: a huge amount of religious people weren’t that way from birth. Another concept: a huge amount of religious people think quite deeply about their faith. Another concept to blow your mind: these days, being genuinely devout is counter-culture, whereas being non-devout is mainstream. So you want us to think for ourselves by doing what society expects of us?
Another concept is that sometimes a person may be taught something good from birth and their moral arc involves reaffirming it in the face of opposition
Im all for accommodating people whenever necessary and possible but also some of you have clearly never lived a day in discomfort in your life and have also never been outside in the real world
Before anyone dares misconstrue this in any way, let me be transparent. This is a post expressing anger specifically at a post I saw on my for you page in which someone said that they have bad anxiety and had a panic attack because they took public transit for the first time and the people on the bus were scary and so mean and probably all rapists
That reminds me of the "staying alone in a hotel" videos where a person locks themself up like Fort Knox in their hotel room.
Like if you're that scared of being assaulted, please get help. Assaults are comparatively rare and while being aware of your surroundings is important, being so alert that you become paranoid is not normal.
Living in that kind of fear is not normal. It's not healthy. If you are genuinely so afraid of being around strangers that you have panic attacks, you need therapy.
I love this!
this is, no shit, some of the best advice i have ever heard.
As a group of religious sisters once told me, your vocation or calling is a combination of where, when and with whom. Maybe you’re called to the religious life, but with a different community. Maybe you’re called to marriage, but not yet.
I’d argue all this applies to things like job, career, school, etc. Maybe God will call you to get a PhD one day, but the when and from where is something you have to discern.
Tips for Writing Injuries
✧ Broken ribs suck. You don’t just “walk it off.” Breathing hurts. Laughing hurts. Existing hurts. Characters with rib injuries won’t be doing heroic sprints.
✧ Concussions aren’t instant naps. Dazed vision, nausea, dizziness, maybe even personality changes, but they’re not going to collapse neatly like in the movies.
✧ Blood loss is sneaky. It’s not just about dramatic pools of blood. It’s dizziness, confusion, and the body getting cold as circulation tanks.
✧ Adrenaline lies. Someone can take a serious injury and not feel it until the fight’s over. That “I didn’t realize I was bleeding until later” trope? Very real.
✧ Twisted ankles are brutal. One bad step and suddenly running is off the table. Even walking hurts like hell. Perfect way to ground a chase scene.
✧ Burns linger. Even small burns hurt more than most people expect. Blisters, infection risk, constant pain, it’s not just a cool scar later.
✧ Dislocated shoulders = useless arm. Characters can’t keep swinging a sword or firing a gun. They’re basically fighting one-armed until it’s fixed.
✧ Shock is a thing. Pale skin, trembling, rapid heartbeat, and eventually disorientation. A character might not even realize how bad their wound is.
✧ Stitches aren’t magic. Getting sewn up is painful and recovery takes time. They’re not instantly battle-ready after a needle and thread.
✧ Scars tell stories. Some fade, some don’t. Some stay sensitive forever. Don’t forget the aftermath when the wound becomes part of the character.

What is/was your major?
STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)
Humanities (english, history, philosophy, divinity)
Social Sciences (economics, political science, psychology, sociology)
Arts (dance, graphic design, fine arts, theater)
Business and Economics (finance, human resources, marketing)
Health (nursing, health administration, dietetics)
Education (elementary education, special education, educational psychology)
Other (trade school, military, job certification, etc.)
Feel free to elaborate in the tags.
I use my English lit degree to work in tech and write slashy whumpfic that projects my physical disability onto unsuspecting characters. Could be worse.
I use my shiny double major in Marketing and Logistics, and currently support WMS platforms...it could be worse.
Gentle reminder, that being stuck doesn’t mean you’ve failed your story. Sometimes it means your story is asking you to pause, breathe, and listen closer. Silence is part of the dialogue too. So trust that when the words return, they’ll definitely return much stronger. And remember, you've got this.✨

if you cheer on the father of little children getting shot just because you disagree with his politics please unfollow/block me. you're vile and have abandoned all conscience and humanity.
writer culture is simoultaneously wanting everybody and nobody to read your fanfictions
.
life actually gets better when you leave the house consistently btw like im serious
if you don't know where to go, just wander! go to the store and don't buy anything, go to the library just to sit and do whatever you were going to do at home, go to a park and just walk around/sit outside for a bit (weather permitting, of course)
just put some headphones in and walk around the block a couple times if you really have nothing else to do, just getting a bit of air and change of scenery is so good for you
me the first few weeks of forcing myself to go on daily walks (it gets better tho)
i really need tumblr to learn the concept of “if you physically cannot do this then this post is not talking about you” because jesus christ.
@a-spectacular-pigeon you get it.

Please - louder, for those in the back!
Hey, man, c'mere. Listen. Get in real close, this is important.
You're gonna make stuff again. You're gonna make stuff you're proud of. You're gonna make stuff you're excited to share. You're going to feel that overwhelming drive to create, not just the frantic I want to want to you're stuck in now. You're going to have awesome ideas, and you're going to make them into reality. You're going to create again. You're still an artist. You're still a writer. You're still home to the same passion you had before. You'll find it again. It's not gone. It's just resting. Let it rest. You're going to make stuff again. I promise.
me: okay, tonight i’m locking in. i’m going to write all night, become a literary weapon and finish my chapter. i won’t just write the wip, i will be the wip. i’ll be unstoppable! relentless! unbreakable! so powerful the writing gods will have to restrain me themselves—
also me, 3 hours later: *giggling at yet another cursed tumblr post while my opened word doc glares at me with only 5 new words and a shameful half-finished sentence*
Everyone should read their own fanfics recreationally tbh this shit fucking rules. It's like the author knows exactly what I like.
why doesn’t that bitch ever update 😭
