Dad was someone who was committed to the narrative of a situation rather more than the practicality. So he would wrap me up and take me out of bed in the middle of the night to show me the glow-worms in the hedge or Halley’s Comet gliding across a star-filled sky. For him, me seeing these wonders of nature was much more important than sleeping, which I could do anytime. … I like to think that wherever Dad is now, there is a hat on his head, a stick in his hand and a whistle on his lips. There’s probably a cat about somewhere too. There should always be a cat.
Rhianna Pratchett, “The Terry Pratchett Diary” (via noirandchocolate)
Cats are like witches. They don’t fight to kill, but to win. There is a difference. There’s no point in killing an opponent. That way, they won’t know they’ve lost, who is beaten and knows it. There’s no triumph over a corpse, but a beaten opponent, who will remain beaten every day of the remainder of their sad and wretched life, is something to treasure.
Terry Pratchett, Witches Abroad (via discworldquotes)
A witch ought never to be frightened in the darkest forest, Granny Weatherwax had once told her, because she should be sure in her soul that the most terrifying thing in the forest was her.
Terry Pratchett - Wintersmith (via terrypratchettparadise)
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.
Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky (Tiffany Aching)
I love this saying from Assassin’s Creed as it relates to how I live my life. Growing up, I had many people try to force religion and rules down my throat, I became so disillusioned to the idea of faith in god at all. I came from a family tied well into the police force as well, so as a result I grew into an honest and law-abiding person - to a fault in which if I don’t feel it is right , I don’t do it or I can’t be pressured into it. ‘Nothing is true’ to me means that I believe in what I choose to believe in, which could be anything. ‘Everything is permitted’ stands for my choices In life; I can choose to follow the rules, or I can break them because they aren’t right.

Gavin: But the scary point is, it's like as soon as I get on the plane, I legally can't come back yet. I can't come back to America, where my house is, and my...like, family are and stuff.
Gus: What if -
Burnie: Aw, that was nice! Your family's not in the UK? I like that. That was nice.
Gavin: What do you mean?
Burnie: You said you can't come back to Austin, where your house is, and your family is.
Gavin: Yeah!
Burnie: I know, but you said family. Your family's in the UK.
Gus: That's a very sweet thing for you to say, Gavin.
Barbara: Yes. Unintentionally sweet.
Gavin: It was intentional!
Burnie: A year ago you would have said your family's in the UK.
