i've talked a bit about how musical beetlejuice and lydia share this weird synchronicity beyond the obvious parallels (yknow being invisible and all) that i think are what makes them stand out to me. born to be best frenemies forever. this is what makes them go toe-to-toe. she's not afraid of him, she can match him easily.

all of this is without including them goofing around and scaring the neighbors during That Beautiful Sound like they share the same brain btw. peep the choreo in Beautiful Sound, i hadn't noticed they even match THAT until recently
#YEAH THIS EXACTLY!!!!#this is probably what I liked most about the musical#musical Beetlejuice and Lydia share a decent overlap in a Venn diagram#(The rest of these tags is just me rambling on a tangent)#and- to me- there’s a third circle in the diagram for Dead Mom/Emily Deetz#Emily deetz is like the angelic force of chaos on Lydia’s shoulder. with BJs demonic force of chaos on the other shoulder.#my own conspiracy theory is that Emily and Beetlejuice also share some parallels:#it’s such a whacky comparison to ponder sometimes#beetlejuice makes Lydia’s life ‘easy’ again and her jokes land again#Emily also loved a good old house makeover. and Halloween prank antics at any/all times of the year. which is what bj and Lydia get up to#Emily calls Lydia her clone- Lydia is declared one of the gang with Bj and the clones#an honorary ghost. apprentice even- at a stretch#(in my head she gets a sickass outfit quick-change into a juice couture dress collab. just because that would be fun ok)#(it would also kinda act as a frankenstein-esque reconstruction and ‘resurrection’ of Lydia’s joy and confidence- a Strange Creation)#(Also Lydia deserves compensation after that yellow dress)#beetlejuice is kind of inadvertently offering a warped version of what Lydia misses about her mother.#to me Lydia’s team-up with beetlejuice stretched out into being an unhealthy coping mechanism for her grief and missing her mom#*i slowly drive away from the drive-thru collection window*
