My Collection: Zeraora

Well everyone it finally happened for me! After a lot of networking and trading up I was finally able to get my hands on a shiny Zeraora! For those of you who have followed the blog for awhile and chat with me, you know this is a BIG DEAL! I’ve been looking for one since I missed the event so I’m very excited to show this one off to you.

One thing I didn’t really expect was that Zeraora was so bipedal! All of the pics and even fights with other trainers I saw them in had them slightly hunched over so I thought they were like Pikachu where they stood on their hind legs but ran on all four. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly alarmed when they ran to me at first like a human jogging between traffic stops!

Once I got over that (and it took a hot minute) I realized how similar Zeraora was to Incineroar, Scorbunny and a lot of the bipedal final evolutions. In this sense they fit right in! Zeraora was first introduced to us in Alola where you could get the non shiny version for awhile. While I do like the white from the shiny version, like many I also like the canary yellow of the original!

Zeraora is in a weird place trading wise where their shiny variant is more obtainable than their non-shiny variant. This is pretty unusual and due to the fact that people were actually able to farm for the Zeraora during the SWSH event by creating multiple Home accounts, with some people even claiming more than 80! That’s a lot of emails!

If you would like a shiny Zeraora and missed the event like me, your only option is to trade! My best advice would be to keep a close eye on Pokémon events and make sure you claim Mystery Gifts when they are available. A good example of this is Sakurai’s Torkoal, a non shiny event Pokémon that was released for a couple of days earlier this week. If you’re not an all inclusive collector and just want shiny Pokémon, this would have been a great Pokémon to trade with as it was only available for a couple of days and many people missed it. As always be careful when you are conducting high value trades and choose a safe platform to trade on like r/pokemontrades.
