To my fellow rock n roll nerds:
Here are some recommendations for you (just in case you don't know this yet)
Rock N Roll Archaelogy
In this podcast series, the host Christian Swain narates the history of rock'n'roll from its very beggining to the current day (so the episodes are in chronological order). He explores what the culture was like at the time and what led to birth of each new genre. In terms of the lenght and production quality, it could be equal to a documentary. I really love the storytelling which is very captivating and I was introduced to many beautiful songs through this podcast.
Polyphonic
Polyphonic is a youtuber who runs a channel dedicated to music (both new & old). He makes videos about music history and musicians or explains what inspired artists to create some of the most famous songs. It's clear that the music is his passion and his enthusiasm is truly contagious. The videos are visually stunning so just watching them is an experience on its own.
I make things about music. Videos come out when they do, usually on Thursdays or Fridays.
reblogging to add some ladies...
Unveiling the Legends: Dolls of the 60s & 70s
This podcast is hosted by Emma Rosa Katharina and Abigail Devoe who decided to shine light on some 60s and 70s female icons who may be a bit forgotten next to their male counterparts. By putting these women's stories out there, Emma and Abby complete a picture of that era - an era that is (let's be honest) mostly remembered for the popculture scene dominated by men. I think this podcast is truly a one-of-a-kind project and the girls do an amazing and important job.
Both hosts have also their own youtube channel that is worth checking out. Abby runs a weekly series called Vinyl Monday where she talks about albums from her ENORMOUS record collection. Emma's content is more fashion-oriented but she also does videos about 60s - 70s music and popculture or history essays.
Feel free to add your recs to this list!
