Hc that the masquerade ball was on the same time as the town that went mad so butler Ranboo didn't know how to read initially but then he met this orphan boy while he was throwing out the trash in the forest.

The orphan boy was peculiar at first. Pestering the butler when his master could possibly give him more punishments for his inefficient servitude. But then he was the only other person that would let the butler speak so they started to grow a friendship between them.

Upon realizing that the butler didn't know how to read the orphan boy, Robin, wanted to teach his friend how to read. Robin was taught how to read by his cat hybrid father figure so he could study medicine but now he can help his friend!

Now they would always meet up in the forest so they could either get into their own hijinks or read over the various books from Robin's small but cared for collection and sir Belllium's massive but forgotten collection.

But then, one day, the butler waiting for his friend at their usual spot. He even got rewarded (he begged) to have a free day just so he can spend more time with his friend! But he has to get back home and clean everything in the mansion by dusk. So, he waited and waited and waited but his friend was nowhere in sight. He went back to an empty house with no food in his stomach and no friend at his side.

He still tried the visit their usual spot on the chance that Robin was there. But he wasn't ever. But he can't focus on that now. Lord Bellium is hosting another ball the next day and he can't afford anymore distractions.
