“Wooow, multiple worlds.” No wonder she seemed so nonchalant about it. She looked kind of young to already be so familiar with the law, but Evelyn couldn't really judge much. “You a seasoned criminal then? Or were you all just caught performing in illegal zones?”
"Oh, we had to leave our world and ended up living kinda precariously for a while." She smiled brightly as they entered the market, and she started just turning in circles, looking at everything. "But I'm mostly fine. The Cloud Knights are just way too uptight."
"Ooohhh, thinly veiled threats, how fun. Just makes me wanna know what would happen though." Following her, Evelyn kept casually looking around as if expecting one of those armored guys to show up. Who knew how competent they were at their jobs or how much they actually wanted to catch this girl. "Think the market is a good place to lay low then?"
"Hey, me and my entire family were on the run from multiple worlds's law enforcement for years. I have my ways." She clasped her hands behind her head as she started walking, and a couple Ditings that had been lurking around the area started following her.
At the question, she said, "Yeah, the area pretty much gets left alone after they chased some IPC thugs out, we'll be fiiiiine."

Shaking her hand, she cracked a smile. "Mostly huh? I'm Evelyn. Supposed to be a private investigator for some fancy big wigs, but don't worry, your little crimes aren't on my radar so I don't have to do anything about it." She wasn't sure she would even if that was part of the gig. Could pretend to just look the other way and shrug when asked.
"Oh I figured. And even if you could do something about it, I have my ways of keeping people silent." She gave Evelyn a wink before turning to get an idea of her surroundings. "There's a market nearby that has the best street food on the Luofu, c'mon."
"Damn really?" That was unexpected. "This might be the nicest kidnapping I've ever had" The girl didn't really look malicious, then again you could never tell. "Unless treating to lunch is code for something terrible."
That got a laugh. "I'd never use food for code for anything. Too disappointing." She held a hand out, still trying to catch her breath from the dramatic escape.
"I'm Guinaifen! I work as a street performer and streamer here on the Luofu. So I'm not a criminal, just an opportunist. Mostly."
Geeze she actually got a bit winded. This new job clearly wasn’t as physically involved as her last one. Maybe she should hit up a gym.
“Ahhh, willingly breaking the laws in a place like this seems gutsy. Tips must be reeaaaal good.” She stuffed her hands in her pockets and took a look around the corner. No catching up yet. “Performer explains the flashy getup. Whatcha gonna do now?”
While the woman was checking around the corner, Guinaifen had pulled out the money bag she'd managed to grab before she got chased off.
"Hmm, well, since I dragged you halfway across the Exalting Sanctum, how about I treat you to lunch?" And maybe it was partly to make sure she kept the woman occupied long enough to make sure she wasn't going to rat on her to the guards.

"Hey Decie, if you hear anyone saying I'm not allowed to juggle things on fire anymore, don't listen to them. It's not an official citation yet."
It was the first time she managed to get clearance to be on the Luofu. The amount of security here was somewhat unnerving to her. They had so many rules that who knew if she was at risk of being broken.
She heard the shouting first before seeing the girl barreling towards her. Reflexes kicking in to duck down just as she leaped. No idea what she had been wrapped up in, but deciding to just go with it.
Not like she wasn’t used to running anyway.
“You don’t have to tell me why you’re being chased, but I’m nosy and would be nice to know what we’re runnin’ for.”
Well, at least her kidnapee was the agreeable sort. Guinaifen kept running until they'd twisted through a few more alleys, not encountering anyone else she might have to grab along the way.
Once she was sure the Cloud Knights had either lost them or given up, she stopped and took a few deep breaths.
"Not supposed to perform in front of government buildings. But that's where all the rich types swarm around so I get my best tips there..."
"Get this! Tall Auntie gave me some extra snacks! I helped her with some orders, and she insisted on giving me something." He holds out the bag of snacks. "Let's share them! You looked like you were needing a bite, anyway." Man Chai bounds around to sit on his shoulder. "What's up, by the way?"
Guinaifen's eyes absolutely lit up at the offer.
"I've been living off plain rice for a week." That's all she has to say before she digs in. "People are being so stingy lately. And I've even gotten better at swallowing swords! People just refuse to be impressed."
((I should do an AU verse where Gui ended up escaping from the authorities by sneaking onto the Express.))

Things on the Luofu had been almost too quiet since the Swordance ended. Gui had been going about her life mostly per usual.
And that also meant running for it when the Cloud Knights tried to get her to show proof she had a permit to perform right in front of the Seat of Divine Foresight.
"Whoops!" She had managed to turn a corner and throw them off her, but there was an off-world woman right there, and Guinaifen barely managed to leap over her, kick off the wall, and land behind her. "Sorry!"
Her ears perked up when she heard the voices of the officers looking for her, and she grabbed the woman by the wrist and pulled her with her as she ran. No need to risk a stranger telling them she'd seen her.
