rewatched rogue one today after finishing andor yesterday and i just cannot get over the way cassian acts to jyn- jyn, whom he barely knows, who is abrasive to him, who doesn’t trust him, who has explicitly said that after she helps this one mission she’s leaving for good. and yet despite all this, despite their verbal sparring, despite her distrust, he repeatedly risks his own life to make sure she escapes whatever Situation they’ve got themselves in, even after her surface-level usefulness to the rebellion has expired. because cassian is kind, but more importantly, because cassian recognizes that jyn is who he used to be, before narkina five, before aldhani, before luthen and vel and cinta, dedra and syril. cassian knows more than anyone else at that base that jyn has her own hero’s awakening to go through, and he’s going to support her as she does- because he changed the world, so he knows she can too
