I have never so joyously reblogged a bird video in my life.
I’m a simple girl.
I see a bird post and I tag @zoofitness
@maria-the-ghoul and I appreciate it every time you do I love them 😭😭😭
Reblogging so I can share it with my cat again. He really liked watching this.
A Romp of Otters chasing a butterfly!

I wasn't going to put a fish in the 4 gallon, but this little friend was too irresistible. This fish is called a red lined pygmy goby (Trimma striatum). It's pretty much at its max size which is less than 2 inches. They swim upside down and are often found in caves or near rocky ledges. I was worried that it was going to starve as it took him a few days to eat, but it's eating well now. This bad video was actually the first time I observed it chomping down on some baby brine I hatched specifically for it. I'll get a better pic soon!
Truly beautiful crustaceans
Incredible Hercules beetle pupa 🎥 Hirofumi Kawano
Alright I love the shit out of bugs, you know me. But honestly that thing looks like a fucking Guillermo del Toro prop
I wanna hold it.
The Eraserhead baby has a challenger
ayy in case anybody isnt familiar with the hercules beetle life cycle, this is the middle stage, right before they pupate into the more recognizable Big Bug !
but their larval form is also really interesting - hercules beetles are some of the largest in the world ( not THE largest, but up there ) and their grubs are a good reflection of that at up to around 6 inches long
compare that to the adult size of the female beetle, who doesnt get that big ol horn - a very big baby
Oh wow the comments people keep adding to this are horrible. Why the fuck can’t people just appreciate the natural world instead of this asshole “NNNOOOOOPE KILL IT” culture. No fucking wonder we’re in the middle of an extinction event.
The larva literally spends its entire existence buried in dirt eating bits of rotten wood bothering nobody and half the commenters still apparently want to burn it or stomp it. Neither fear nor ignorance should be valid excuses for viewing any living thing this way.
Also the pupa stage of a beetle is equivalent to the chrysalis/cocoon stage of a butterfly or moth and the larva is equivalent to a caterpillar. Chrysalids can wiggle their abdomen like that too! But I don’t see people screaming to kill the monarch chrysalis or caterpillar they found in their yard because bUTterFLies ArE pRETTy.
As requested by @letsgetsalty. Needs a little love still, going to move some more zoas over from the grow out. All the inverts except for Godzilla (cleaner shrimp) were hiding. He's probably going to go in the grow out, but he came from a tank that was infested with velvet so he's got to stay in the 4g for several months.
Nice!!! Love those feather dusters! Godzilla certainly lives up to his name in there
What are your plans for it? Zoa garden?
Thanks. Yeah, just a nice little softies tank. I have a bunch of zoas in grow out, but some are "fancy" and gf does not want them in 4g lol. Just waiting to see which ones can go in because I forget which are which.

He just woke up
Moved to a new appartment and found the perfect space for our aquarium 🥰
Gorgeous!!
We’re heading to MACNA this weekend. So is Hurricane Dorian. We should be out of Orlando before Dorian hits, but our house is coastal and in the path so. This is gonna be a fun weekend!
Gf and I were talking this morning about how glad we are that we didn't pick up macna tickets. We're in Miami so the projections don't look too bleak for us, but we're prepping. Stay safe!

I may or may not have spent over $200 on a single coral today 🤷🏻♀️
It happens, it's a beauty though!

So, I looked it up and not only do mugger crocodiles do this, but American alligators have been observed doing this as well. Sneaky crocodilians.
Drama boi!
The way he throws his little head back when he REALLY MEANS IT, oh my goodness.
