Recently watched Iron Lung again for the first time since it's theatrical run, man how the HELL is Grace supposed to help Simon process anything that happened on that damn sub?

In most Bloodymary fics it's Simon who went through The Horrors™ that gets picked up by Eridians or brought onto Mary. But dude, there is absolutely no way his brain isn't completely fried from all that, acute radiation poisoning aside. Halfway through the movie Simon was transported into a HELL DIMENSION created by a cosmic horror beyond his comprehension as he vomited up his entire stomach contents worth of blood, and that was just at the HALFWAY MARK of his journey.

Simon would be sitting in Grace's bed every night catatonic, battling The Horrors™ (a shadow in the corner).

Grace in bed with Simon: "Hey Simon? How ya doing pal?"

Simon, intently staring at nothing and mumbling: "The ship is alive, the blood is human, it's people, we can drink it and synthesize food from it to find the answers to the light, I see you, it's bigger than us"

Grace, scared now too: "Yeah... I think we should take another visit to the Mental Health Room."

BloodyMary! Language barrier AU

Where Simon is struggling to learn how to communicate with them, but he isn't stupid.

Every day, Garce gives him literally the best food he's ever tasted, then he watches him struggle down a bowl of coma slurry.

There's so much food on the ship, and Grace doesn't know how to explain that the good stuff is almost gone. But he doesn't have to. Food was always scarce. He's seen the older boys on Eden eat the nastier stuff to spare the young ones. He's both been the younger kid and the older one in that situation.

So the best meal he doesn't start eating, he waits until Grace mixes up the coma slurry. Then he goes over and switches the two. He ignores Grace's words of half hearted protest, and take a bite.

It's still so much better than the slop he was fed at the prison. So he gives Grace a shrug and a smile and gets back with his language lessons.

Meanwhile, Rocky is over in his ball, like, "Ha! Rocky told Grace food experience not important! Half human agrees! "👎👎👎
