fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didn’t grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like “bro what is this 😭.” why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.

“college is absolutely nothing like this” “why are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one game” “so tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!”

if you don’t like a fic, and if you can’t suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you don’t have to read it. you don’t have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you don’t have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. it’s not giving baby’s first fandom anymore, it’s giving entitled asshole and it isn’t as cute as you think it is.

when i rewatch criminal minds episodes i'm always reminded that emily is actually crazy good at her job

today i was rewatching seven seconds (best cm episode ever btw nothing will ever top seven seconds) and if you look at emily's face when the uncle was explaining that maybe katie was just playing dress-up you can see in her eyes how she put the pieces together in her head that there was something going on and that the uncle may have done something to katie

it's even more obvious when you watch the clip like you see the moment when it clicks for her but she couldn't say anything unless she had proof of it

and i have to admire paget's acting here too because she was just so good at the subtle changes with just her eyes and body language she was just too good in this ep this was HER ep

i still get chills thinking about the scene where she was getting the aunt to confess what she did to katie and goes "you have robbed katie of her childhood, are you going to steal the rest of her life from her as well?" with so much fury and passion my god she is excellent

i’d like to argue that, to some extent, emily prentiss is smarter than spencer reid.

she’s been shown on multiple occasions to have superior emotional intelligence and streets smarts to the rest of the team. she’s also a proficient polyglot, which indicates discipline, memorization skills, and a large understanding of linguistics. Reid’s genius (DO NOT(!!) BURN ME AT THE STAKE FOR THIS) is in great part credited to his eidetic memory, and from what i have seen he has a lot of superficial knowledge in many different areas, which is not bad! im not saying all of his knowledge is superficial, no no.

what i am saying is that the cm writers were too afraid to overshadow reid’s genius persona with emily’s multifaceted sexy baddie groove thang. I personally think her iq is above 160, maybe even reaching mid 170’s.

don’t even get me started on her spy training, the amount of discipline, intelligence, intuition and nameless amount of abilities it took to hide emily for so long when she ‘was’ lauren, then to hide lauren forever when she was emily. THEN TO HIDE BOTH OF THEM WHEN SHE ‘DIED’

oh, the tragedy of emily prentiss.

i am also by no means hating on reid? im just saying we could’ve had two geniuses had the writers followrd through with emily :D

agreeing with this 1000% and would like to add that i rewatched the angel maker ep today and was reminded that it was emily who made the connection of the puncture wounds being the heavenly waters constellation which means that she knows her constellations and can probably point/name a few when prompted to 🙂‍↕️

i def think emily is both book smart AND street smart, and because of her parents' occupation, she grew up n several countries and probably had to acclimate herself on the culture from these countries which would sort of expand her knowledge about things in life (i also like to think that her childhood of being exposed to many different cultures made her an excellent spy because it meant she knew how to blend in or make herself act/sound like a local in whatever area she needed to infiltrate)

i can go on and on about her because emily in general is a deeply multifaceted character and there's a lot of arcs you can up with for her character and could still make it work and that's what makes her so interesting to me
