“You can’t be serious.” Moira pinched the bridge of her nose. She stood, her posture rigid and tense clear in her shoulders. “This is just utterly ridiculous.” There was no telling with her if the problem was serious or not or just a very minor annoyance, frustration and exasperation seemingly her default for the last two years.

“Moira we need to keep a level head about this,” Cora said to her, letting out a sigh as she ran her hands over her face. Was she worked up about the tarot card? Of course she was, but she had to remain calm in the face of danger. For herself and her family. But in front of Moira, another young woman tasked with leading her family, Cora could let the calm slip away a little bit. “Because the murder happened in Manhattan, they have jurisdiction but I have some friends who letting me know whatever evidence they can find. We’ll find out who did this and get the justice we need to.” Hunter-style justice. 

Moira narrowed her eyes, “I am perfectly level-headed.” Not that that was completely true. Or true at all. Her sense of justice, tied to anger and blood and death, had been instilled to her when she was a kid and her hunter training had just became. She held it above the diplomacy that her parents had tried equally to teach her, and emotional control, especially in the aftermath of her parents death, was never her strong suit. “Well, at least that’s promising. I have some faith in the human police.” Even if she knew they were woefully unprepared to deal with the most dangerous things in the city.

Moira understood, better than most, the pressure always to be on, ready to strike no matter where she was. “It was probably wishful thinking on my part.” She hummed. A moment passed before she shook her head. “I have to play diplomat tonight, Amelia. I can’t risk getting drunk all things considered.”

they’ve been listening for what’s felt like hours , when in reality it’s been… minutes. felix has been trying to focus on their case and get it solved when someone decided to let just about anyone into their office. they’ll have to check with the front desk on what THAT is about. they clear their throat and run a hand through their mess of curls. “ i see , “ they begin. “ now , what is it that you want us to do ? “ 

Arms crossed in indignation, Moira narrowed her eyes into a glare. Playing nice, hiding whatever passion coursed through her veins, was much more Amelia’s thing than Moira’s. Still, she bit the inside of her check, forcing herself to stay quiet while she pushed done the bubbling annoyance. “I asked if you had anymore information about the attack at the gala.” She said through gritted teeth. “Communication between the families is vital given the situation.” Frustration built up within her, and she wished she had just emailed, no matter her father’s lessons that face to face communication was much more effective.

Moira had never had a flair for the dramatics, except when her angry required them. But, now, she stood, arms crossed, as she listened to the witch speak. “It’s a simple tracking spell.” At least, she assumed it was simple, she didn’t actually care for the semantics of magic. “Is cash not enough?”

“relax, i’m not here to cause any trouble,” aries started, his hands raised in surrender as he walked closer to where the blonde stood. “i am just here to see if i can get some bullets. if whoever it is comes anywhere near my family i want to have evey defence possible.”

Moira did not, in fact, relax, instead her posture remained as rigid as usual. She crossed her arms. As a child, she had considered the dance of diplomacy that she had seen her father do as a lovely thing, let fanciful ideas of it push her towards law school in hopes of refining her talent. She found, within the walls of Colombia Law that she cared far more for the arguments, when her hands shook and voice grew louder and louder, with classmates and professors than the gentle debates that she witnessed between those attempting to maintain the peace. Still, her life was one dictated by diplomacy. And for a moment, longer than a moment if Moira cared to be honest with herself (she rarely did), she considered turning the hunter-turned-werewolf, the traitor for her purposes, away empty-handed. Another moment passed, her lips pursued as she considered. “What type of bullets do you want? What gun do you even have?” She scoffed. Narrowing her eyes, she continued, “This endeavor has been approved by your leader, right, little puppy?”

      “ Joking ? “  Thea crossed her arms as well, mirroring the blonde.   “ What part of my tone made me seem like I was joking ?   I really lost that heel. “   It was even her first time wearing them.

“I’m sorry. Perhaps, making light is a better term?” Moira narrowed her eyes. “Of course, I don’t think that makes it any better. People died. Now is not the time to worry about anything as silly as footwear.”

“How wonderful.” She didn’t stand but didn’t take her eyes off the hunter. She didn’t know her well or trust her. “I’m aware and there are others who are aware for me. Plus you made noise in the grass. Most people can’t hover over it and stay quiet.”

No matter how skilled she was, these supernatural creatures had an edge over her because of their very nature. It was a fact Moira had learned to accept, learned to adapt to. She narrowed her eyes and stood with her shoulders straight. The lean between faux and true confidence blurred. “I’m sure you know that most people so rarely applies in these situations.”

              “  did everyone you care about get out safe ?  ”    baby blues are wide ,   blinks at the other innocently as she brings her  hot chocolate  spiked with a potion  ,    to her lips  .   amelia’s actually surprised by the turn of events  ,   the smell of  SOOT  lingering in her hair  ,   and smoke on her skin .      “  i don’t think there’s enough  japanese cherry blossom  perfume in the world to cover up this stench  .  ”    crinkles her nose with a sigh  .     “  it’s  really  hard running in heels  .  ”    will shiver  ,   though she’s not sure if it’s because of the chilly weather or the prospect of what could have caused this  .  

“Given I am looking at one-thr-” Moira faltered for a moment, stopping herself before she finished speaking. “approximately one-half of the people I care about, I would say there’s a 75% chance that everyone I care about made it out.” She had a little more faith in Killarney than she would often admit. The scent of smoke was still heavy in the hair, clinging to suits, dresses, and nearly everything else that had been taken out of the building. Keeping voice even, a skill learned long, she spoke once more, “Have you seen Killarney, by chance?” Her arms hung at her sides, fingertips of one hand under her jacket and at her hip, dagger in reach. “I still need to locate him.” She always needed to find Yasmine, but her little sister did not need to know that.

In her twenty eight years of life, Moira O’Riley had rarely found a conversation that she did not have something to add to. There were the hushed conversation between the older members of her family, hushed as not to alert the younger members to matters they should pay no mind too but privy to her ears by merit of being her father’s first and eldest child, that she knew better than to add to when the was younger but that was all she could think of. She had been raised to know the value of her opinion, to exaggerate it if the value wasn’t high enough. And so, when the woman turned to her, she narrowed her eyes. “As a matter of fact, I do.” She crossed her arms. “Do you actually think now is the time to be joking?”

Moira scrunched up her nose. “The bar is over there.” She gestured in the vague description of the bar. “But there are much better choices than beer here. I would be surprised if they even have it.”

     reapplying the   𝐅𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘 𝐋𝐈𝐏 𝐆𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐒   wouldn’t have taken long if rome had just taken a moment and stopped admiring herself in the small compact mirror. she insists the faint narcissism comes from her aquatic counterpart, but god knows if that’s the whole truth. ❛ you should try some. ❜ she eventually turned and closed the pentagon-shaped tube, twirling it around between her fingers. ❛ everyone could stand a good 𝓈𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑒. ❜

Moira knew the basics when it came to make up. She knew how to look good enough, but the intricacies of brands and products was lost on her. There was never enough time to learn it all, let alone do it all. She watched the woman, eyes linger ( old habits, sorry Yasmine ) for a moment before she made eye contact with her. “You suggest it, then? I’m useless with things like that.”

“How has you evening been? Has it been... relaxing?” Moira, for the most part, could not imagine her sister not doing at least some work during the gala, truly she imagined most of her family working except for Kil. “Mine has been uneventful. I suppose that is good thing.” If not a little boring.
