My first digital drawing!! Took me days😂
Brooch. 925 Sterlingsilver and a steel needle. The topic was “Feelings” and chose the feeling “longing”. In Greek mythology there is a myth about the goddess Demeter (gr. Δήμητρα), her daughter Persephone (gr. Περσεφόνη) and the god Hades (gr. Ἅιδης). Demeter is the goddess of the fertility of the earth, the grain, the seed and the seasons, and Hades is the god of the underworld. When Persephone played in the meadow, Hades saw her and instantly fell in love with her, so he came up from the underworld and kidnaped her. Demeter, who loved her daughter, could not find her and searched in vain for her. She let everything on earth became bald, cold and dead. After hearing that Hades had stolen Persephone Persephone was let back to the upper world. But Hades, gave Persephone a few pomegranate seeds to eat before she left. Pomegranate seeds are the food of the dead, whoever eats them could not stay on the upper world for eternity. So Persephone has to be 4 months in the underworld, where her mother leaves all the plants bald and 8 months in the upper world with her mother. That’s how the seasons came to be. With the brooch I intended to represent the longing of Demeter in the winter, the time when Persephone is in the underworld. The shape of the brooch is inspired by snow crystals under the microscope.
It‘s finally done!!! A silver ring (925 Sterlingsilver) with an 6mm Cabochon Opal
