The more I involve myself with issues surrounding discrimination, the more people I meet who express their frustration with the system that allows racism, sexism and bigotry to exist. People, who are also looking for answers to why we got here and how to stop this. Of course it has no overnight solution and the fact that we have to fight this system of oppression while living inside it, makes it even harder. Yet, many activists around the world are asking of us today that we don't lose hope. If we have the ability to organize peaceful protests in 600 cities for a common goal - to fight against racism, sexism and denial of climate science, then of course we have the ability to bring this system down. Beside participating in such protests, which show the strength of the power of the mass, I also try to educate myself of the cumulative history (and question the sources often!) that brought us to where we have ended up today. Today at the GCM annual lecture held in Barcelona, a young European jounalist asked the lecturer, who was none other than the renowned linguist, Noam Chomsky, - how she couldn't fathom that 50% of US population are willing to vote for the republicans, for the Trump. Noam Chomsky, without a hesitation, said that it has very much to do with racism. He added though that in his personal opinion, Europe is much worse than the US when it comes to racism. He urged the journalist and the rest of the attendees to look at the rise of extreme right wing and fascists movement coming ahead in local elections within the states of European region. Sure the racism in the US is extremely violent, as is the history of the US, lets never forget. But common we also need to look around, admit and speak up about the racism that happens around "us" rather just in the "US". Many Thanks to Noam #Chomsky for lecturing at the #GCMAnnualLecture

Parents/adults don’t understand the impact of their words or explanations. Kids take everything literally so when u tell a little girl she’s a woman now, she’s going to believe u. It might not be so dangerous if womanism wasn’t equated with sexuality, but it is. So when ur a child who doesn’t know the first thing about their sexuality, that can/will put a lot of pressure on a them. A kid should be a kid. There’s nothing “grown-up” about having boobs or a period or pubic hair. That’s our anatomy & that’s all it is. Acting like these are the traits that make u all grown up reinforces the idea that a woman or girl is nothing without her body.
