"Come in! Come in!"
My name is Mason, I’m a 19 year old queer author and writer in Aotearoa New Zealand! I have self-published a collection of poetry titled The Jellyfish, which shines a light into the mind of a mentally ill young teenager. I write fictional stories and poetry the derives from personal experiences. I’m currently in the process of writing two books which you can learn more about from my side blogs dedicated to them! Here I’ll be posting short stories, poems, updates and short excerpts from my books and probably other things.
A lot of my writing is inspired by my own and/or my friends experiences being queer and mentally ill. I find this very important to write about as even still, it is constantly portrayed incorrectly or demonized, leaving people with misinformation and skewed perceptions of mental illness and the queer community. I've struggled all my life finding spaces in media that represent me in a way that makes me feel safe and understood, and that is what I strive for. With how the world is, and always has been, it is more important than ever to use your voice and your power to fight back and speak up against what is trying to take you down.
