Hello FR users that joined before 2016, do you have an odd memory of picking your tertiary? Do you swear that you picked a color and were sad over not being able to see it, or do you believe staff when they said it was never an option? 100% didn't pick mine, but back in 2014 there was an unofficial dragon customizer site that let you make your progen's design and there was an option to pick your tert there. I used to scry my dragons there waiting for a registration window and got confused that changing the tert didn't do anything.

Maybe people who have vivid memories interacted with this customizer at some point and conflated it with the actual site? Just a wild guess.

I never never knew about that customizer, and I was surprised when people talked about having picked their tertiary color.

I registered a few days after launch, and I know for sure that I didn’t pick my tert because I recall excitedly checking my first progenitor to find out what tert she got.

When I joined (June 2013) the custom progen creation... page, I guess? had a menu for the tertiary color, which you could click on and the list of colors would appear exactly like for the primary and secondary.  The only difference was that it didn’t actually change if you clicked on another color, it just really looked like that was a glitch rather than deliberate.  I reloaded the page to try to fix the ‘glitch’ and I believe did end up with a different tertiary than the one it had first given me, though still not what I would have picked.

(And then I was 100% convinced that tertiary=eye color for at least a week, because I’m Arcane and the tertiary was Magenta, but that’s beside the point.)

Anyway so: you couldn’t actually pick the tertiary at any point, but it LOOKED like you could or at least were supposed to be able to, which is probably a lot of the confusion.

YES! That's my experience as well. I just ended up getting assigned the tert I picked anyways, I guess, which is unlikely but hilarious.

Dustcarve Dig Banners & Dividers

Snagged the completed Dustcarve Dig background image this morning, and immediately thought “I should do another banner & divider set based on that” - yes, these are formatted exactly like my existing Coliseum and Scene sets. While there were five days of digging, the underlying image really only lends itself to being divided into four strips of images.

When linking from these images, make sure you’ve clicked on an image in the  photoset and are doing your right click -> copy image link from the full size (640 pixel width) images, not from the downsized dashboard images. You are also welcome to copy these images and host them somewhere else if you find that more convenient. Attribution is not required, but should link back to this post if done.

this thing is an ABSOLUTE GODSEND when trying to grind things for a swipp trade that is currently going on.

It’ll probably need some time to catch up with new data once NotN starts, but, seriously, probably one of the best resources out there.

WRIGHT’S GUIDE TO MAKING FAT STACKS OF CASH DURING NOTN

1. Save your leftover drops from last year. Do NOT hoard sell them or convert them into food. 

Having a bunch of leftovers means that you have a buffer for Swipp swaps. Keep an eagle eye on the swap stand the first couple of days and trade as much as you can. 

2. Sell EVERY CHEST YOU GET during the first couple days.

Prices on Strange Chests tank FAST as everyone undercuts each other and the supply increases. Prices will be at their highest on the first few days, so during that days, SELL EVERY SINGLE CHEST. Do not open ANY. It’s tempting, because you might find an egg or a noc scroll, but the chances are too low to make it worth it. Just sell those chests. 

3. After the first few days, you can start opening chests, but SELL ALL EGGS OR NOC SCROLLS FOR THE FIRST WEEK. 

Again, prices will plummet on these items, so sell all of them the first week. If you really want to hold on to eggs for a mass hatch of whatever, then sell half any you get in a day for the first week. 

4. Always list items you sell at the lowest Auction House price.

Items move FAST, like, things will sell seconds after you list them, but only if it’s the cheapest price. Always always ALWAYS check the lowest price before listing anything. 

5. Coli smarter, not harder. 

Here’s how I coli: I check Swipp. If he doesn’t have any swaps for the lower level venue drops - anything below Redrock, bc that’s the highest I can go and still get 1-hit KOs with Eliminate - I set a timer for when the swap resets. I then go and do something else with my time. 

When the timer goes off, I check back. If there are swaps for low-level drops, I then spend the next 2 hours grinding. Most swaps require drops from 2 different venues, so I’ll spend 1 hour in each venue. Put on a podcast or watch a movie to pass the time. Right before the swap resets, go and trade until you run out of the required drops. Then, watch the swap reset. 

If it’s higher level drops, reset your timer and go do something else. If it’s lower level, go back to grinding. 

You want to stick to lower levels because you can get through the battles faster. Higher level venues just aren’t worth it. Also, it forces you to take breaks. Make sure that when you take your breaks, you’re getting up out of your seat and moving around. 

DISCLAIMER: 

I work in education, so the 2 weeks of NotN are 2 weeks where I don’t have to go to work. I therefore have tons of free time and can spend my time grinding. I realize not everyone has this time, but you can still take this advice into consideration for when you do have time to grind.
