nero tol scaeva may not be my favorite ffxiv character but he's definitely one of the FUNNIEST ffxiv characters

highlights include:

killing the lights and fucking booking it when you defeat him, and then just straight up deserting the garlean army with absolutely no remorse or hesitation

leaving the praetorium and almost immediately posting up under a streetlight in a stupid outfit in revenant's toll like some kind of clown hooker, waiting to direct wol to the crystal tower questline JUST so he could involve himself, too

showing up in the middle of a major city not even slightly in disguise to walk up to a meeting of world leaders and say "now it's clear the problem you're having is that you haven't involved MEEEEEE"

accepting wearing an ironworks uniform but dying it red because #aesthetics

magical girl armor transformation

bonus: cid keeping his sunglasses and then just silently handing them back afterward as if they do this all the fucking time

getting attacked and injured but just refusing to tell anyone about it until he literally collapsed

sneaking out of the infirmary but not before forging cid's signature on his expense report

telling his fellow garleans that if all they were gonna do is whine and refuse any solutions to their problems they could just fucking die for all he cares

truly one of the characters of all time. he's like a horrible beetle man. i love him.

Literally go play WoW which has you thrown into end game content

I don't understand why all games need to satisfy this need for immediate gratification while basically building absolutely fucking nothing

You wanna press shiny buttons for 8 hours and get a reward each time? What is this, a gambling arena?

If they cut down on expansions, why even play the game anymore? Taking the meat off an entire organism and leaving it as bare bones for yet another instant gratification video game

It's an RPG for fucks sake! It happens to be online as part of the concept. ROLE. PLAY. GAME. THERE'S GONNA BE ROLEPLAY IN THE ROLEPLAY GAME. YOU PLAY A ROLE. OF THE HERO PROTAGONIST. IN A STORY.

If it was a take that talked about ARR content and needing some further refinement or reworking here and there to draw the audience in, I'd understand. I tried FFXIV 4-5 years ago and ARR put me off. I gave up in the post patches. I came back for the Viera last summer (and because I could afford a sub) and forced myself to push through ARR and eventually came to really like the story and the game itself after being a literal hater for years before.

But to outright ask that they let you play the game without the story and just have you jump into current content while being a completely new player with no knowledge of your own class? Do you also not care about all the other people forced to play with these newcomers? It's bad enough they can job and story skip to 90 right now. Next year they'll make it 100 probably. You'll wanna run an Extreme for DT or something and suddenly you have a guy who doesn't know how to use either of the gameplay modes available, but oh it's fine cause they just wanted to play with their friends so they bought a skip, the expansion and the game license and a sub.

Playing THROUGH the story with your friends is an even better experience! Makes the way to the end worthwhile instead of throwing over 60€ away on a subscription based, expac based game, just to play with your level 100 friends for a week and then dump it cause you didn't actually enjoy it even with endgame fully available.

Peony Lore Part 1 of ?? Childhood in Golmore

Peony was born in the jungle of Golmore as his mother's sixth and final child and was originally named Jinan. He doesn't really remember much about his mother as she was very distant with him and he was mostly raised by his elder sisters Inaya and Safia. He has three elder brothers, Rashid, Saddiq and Ikram but they had already left to become forest wardens by the time he was born.

Peony's eldest sister Inaya was also the only one of his siblings whom he shared a father with, and it was this father whom his sister blamed for their mothers apathy.

Their father was a wanderer whom had already left the jungle before Inaya was born and returned decades later. Though the village elder had banished him and forbidden anyone from interacting with him, their mother still found herself drawn to him and she secretly met up with him several times, during which he would tell her of his travels in the outside world. The two grew close as they did before.

When Sharif left again he had invited Rahaf to join him, her children were all grown and would manage without her, they could see the world together, he would show her all the wondrous sights she would never see.

And perhaps they would have.

But in the end Rahaf lost her nerve, to leave the jungle would be to leave behind all she had ever known and though her children were grown the thought of never seeing them again tore at her heart.

And so the two never saw each other again.

And then Peony was born.
