oough i love these ones!

1: how is your wol about personal hygiene? are they on top of it? always perfumed and spotless, a little messy sometimes, or do they have to be reminded to groom?

L'amp is VERY meticulous about keeping himself clean & well groomed, his tribe is from the cliffs above the O'ghomoro mines so the salty sea air & humidity regularly takes its toll on their hair and skin but they've had ways to mitigate it. The O'ghomoro vipers make a soap out of coconut oil and silk fibers to help mitigate the effects on the skin. On his travels, L'amp gets antsy if he can't bathe for more than a few days - he always keeps soap on him so even if he has to dip in a river he can still keep his skin soft and smooth.

He's even MORE precious about his hair - in his tribe it's forbidden to cut your hair behind your ears (what my old cosmetology school teacher calls "the beanie zone") after you turn 12 and your hair must be kept up above your nape unless you're in mourning - these rules originally started from his tribe's seafaring days to also protect it from sweat and salty air but it's grown into a culture of careful hair styling and products to keep it looking nice and presentable.

24: what's your wol's relationship with food? do they skip meals or do they eat at specific times religiously? is food important to them, or is it just a means to an end to keep their body going? does food mean something cultural or personal to them?

Food is an interesting one, L'amp usually has to be reminded to eat on his own or when he's in a prolonged period of 'not doing much' just because he's autistic af and just doesn't get hunger signals - but in group settings he LOVES eating experiences. He gets so excited to try out other cultures' foods and the way they share meals - his favorite place to eat by far has been in Radz-at-Han, but he's grown very fond of the tacos in Tural. He specifically loves when everyone at the table is sharing off shared plates because it makes the experience feel even closer and more similar to what his tribe is like, it helps with the homesickness.

He.... begrudgingly accepts the food in Sharlayan whenever he goes to work on his own archon-related studies, but he chokes it down so he doesn't offend Urianger and Thancred.

How much does your OC's/s background and origin affect their approach to relationships? Are there specific insecurities or preferences that lead on from their past?

I would say Humble's cultural background does affect his understanding of relationships to a degree. It would certainly be usual amongst the Hellsguard clans to advertise your qualities to potential mates through demonstrating your skills at hunting, fighting and crafting.

This definitely feeds into Humble's view that he needs to demonstrate his worthiness through his achievements and prowess, rather than any intrinsic qualities. However he has realised, through careful observation, that most Eorzean men would be slightly nonplussed if presented with the head of a Behemoth, no matter how romantically the gesture was intended.

In terms of his past, Humble's childhood did not involve much in the way of nurture or acceptance, which has made him shy and fearful of rejection. And, although he has a certain amount of status as the Warrior of Light, his humility (and to an extent his naivety) prevent him from taking advantage of it socially. In fact his exposure to various charismatic and admirable figures during his adventures has only served to confirm his belief that he is just a simple man elevated far above his station by circumstance.

So, despite the esteem in which he is held by many, Humble sees himself as being rather clumsy, uneducated and rough, with little to offer a partner - especially when he compares himself to sophisticated and handsome men like Aymeric, Hien or Thancred.

It also probably does not help that, in his efforts to learn more about love and romance, Humble has attempted to read a fair amount of romantic fiction. As a result (and not helped by his poor levels of literacy), his understanding of what is required of a suitor is not entirely realistic. So he spends quite of a lot of time fretting about what a troth is and how one goes about pledging it - or worrying over how he would go about composing a poem confessing his love.

Corrain's opinion of Hraesvelgr!

OOOOH oh this is CRUNCHY hehe okay here we go

So....Corrain doesn't really get where Hraesvelgr's coming from at first. Which - given his youth and utter lack of life experience, makes perfect sense. He's not afraid of Hraesvelgr by any means, more just- respectful of his decision to remain apart, especially after learning the truth of Ratatoskr's murder. But he doesn't understand it. He's never had cause to taste a desire for vengeance yet.

Therefore, Corrain has a very...neutral opinion of him at first. It's one part irritated by the fact that of COURSE it wouldn't be this easy, two parts sympathetic, and another two parts just sort of like "I mean it's your choice to be miserable for eternity I guess?"

And then uh. the Vault happens.

and all of a sudden- he understands just how big of a gesture it is that Hraesvelgr hasn't joined Nidhogg in tearing Ishgard apart. he understands that the abstinence isn't apathy, it's the last scraps of kindness that Hraesvelgr can afford to give a people that murdered his sister for no reason. And it makes him respect Hraesvelgr that much more for even agreeing to hear them out, for watching over Ysayle. Because suddenly he's *also* being eaten up by rage and hate and a thirst for vengeance and the only thing he knows how to do about it is to become a dark knight and wipe Thordan off the face of the earth.

But- Thordan is also Aymeric's father. And so- is he cruel enough to kill Aymeric's father in cold blood, or will he spare the man and abstain from exacting his punishement out of kindness? Is he more like Hraesvelgr or Nidhogg?

(it's a choice made FOR him in the end when primal summonings happen. But it's still a question he asks himself)

And so that means - when Hraesvelgr chooses to try and have faith in humans again, when he gives them another chance after SO long, after Corrain exacts his revenge - it means a LOT. And it's an example that- well. Corrain has to take another look at himself, and at the hate in his own heart. and really think about it. And choose whether or not he's more Nidhogg or Hraesvelgr.

So- by the beginning of Stormblood- one of Corrain's role models is a dragon. even if he's not completely cognizant of that. It's a fun switchup, I think.

Another screenshot from ye olden days, talking with Esteem. She may not admit it but loosing her entire tribe as a young teen probably hit her hard. And the Dotharl teaching probably aren't the best for mental health either, nor is fixating on Sadu and trying to be like her.

Esteem showed her that she did not have to live her life that way and that there were other ways and ways of expressing herself.

How does your character handle the attention that comes with the WoL? Do they experience stage fright - to the point that having eyes on them is nauseating - or do they thrive being under the magnifying glass? Are they the kind to give rousing speeches or do they let their actions speak for themselves? Is the attention of a few worse than the gaze of many?

Cassius doesn't really mind the attention at first, but over time he gets extremely overwhelmed! In casual passing, he's pretty social whenever someone recognizes him. He's never nasty with anyone, but if it gets too much for him, he tends to keep to himself/whoever he is with at that time. If he had a choice, he'd much rather not have that constant attention.

Cassius tends to take charge and does a lot of decision making amongst the Scions. He definitely lets his actions speak for themselves.

Reasons:

She appears to have rather expressive body language and expressions. As such, a partner that can read it and respond accordingly would likely help with communication and collaboration. It is also a way to prove her intent, as it is (usually) difficult for those who are open with their emotions to cover what they feel. Her outspokenness likely earns her many a friend and a good amount of trust besides. 

Her style looks whimsical and variable, suiting a number of occasions and moods. It is likely influenced more by personal choice than outside input, but a compliment of two from a certain charming someone is always welcome. 

She is independent and sure in what she wants to do, suffering no fools who would underestimate or ridicule her. Her strength is admired and respected by those she knows. It is a given that any partners would do so as well and she would do the same for them

Pu-erh: What does your OC do when they’re stuck indoors for a day or two?

Peony would probably spend some time reading, some flower arranging and cooking, especially making sweets to take along to the next scion meeting

Hellooo! I'd like to ask 23 and 28 for the WoL asks?

23: what is your wol's inner monologue like? do they refer to themself as "i"? "we"? "you"? is it organized or all over the place? are they kind to themself, or do they chide themself constantly?

ouuugh L'amp is SO self critical, and you can TELL. it's SO obvious if you could read his mind. When he's thinking neutrally, his inner monologue is in first person - but the second he starts faltering in his confidence, it immediately shifts to 2nd person and then it spirals into a runaway disaster. His martyr complex runs deep, and he truly thinks he's a failure if he didn't give more of himself to save others. He was only 23 when he became the Warrior of Light, he grew up only knowing this kind of pressure. That pressure to go back home a hero drives every waking thought he has, and he can't ever shake it.

28: what sense does your wol most rely on? hearing, touch, sight, smell, taste? maybe even aethersense or dynamis?

as a miqo'te, L'amp has very acute hearing and smell - his ears are constantly swiveling to pick up as much as possible. He is easily overstimulated with those senses though, and has actually figured out a way to create a reverse aethersense to dampen almost all of his senses when he needs to focus hard on something in front of him - at that point, he is almost entirely touch based and needs to hold things directly at his eye-level. Spell of forced tunnel vision essentially.

(the biggest issue there, though, is that he's VERY easy to startle in this stage and anyone who meets him has to be warned in advance so they don't get the bad end of his claws if they tap him on the shoulder. like how you'd warn someone to not sneak up on a horse.)
