She looks like she belongs on the cover of a beloved illustrated children’s book 🥺
Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for wanting better for yourself.
On to the next hobby...
I always wonder why this is seen as a bad thing. Who cares if I don’t stick with a hobby longer than a month? What does it matter if I flit from one project to another based on whatever holds my interest at the time?
There’s nothing wrong with trying new things! If it makes you happy, however briefly, then it’s not a waste of time. I always look back with fondness on those brief obsessions with making jewelry or paint-by-numbers or whatever, because it was fun and I learned something, and what’s the alternative anyway? Doing nothing? Sitting around with twitchy fingers and too much pent up energy? Hating myself for not being “good” at anything just because I dropped karate after a few weeks?
Fuck that. My hobby is trying new hobbies.
And you might go back to it later.
I taught myself to knit and crochet from books when I was like 10, quit for YEARS, picked it to do a couple of small projects once in a while, put it down for several more years, and now I’m in my 30s and I knit ludicrously complicated lace shawls and stuff and do all sorts of fiddly bullshit.
And even if you don’t, sometimes you just want to try something to try it?
And even if you never go back to that hobby, you learned and that has value on its own! Past hobbies aren’t a graveyard, they’re a library archive.
I got into artisan soapmaking once. Never picked it back up. But now? I know what goes into soap, I know what quality handmade soap looks like, I know how to discern between types of soap. I learned how soap was made historically, so in a survival situation I’d be able to make my own with nothing but fat and wood ashes.
I never made money from it but I learned a lot from it, and I’m able to appreciate a little part of life a whole lot more.
Collecting hobbies IS a hobby ;)
Jack of all trades and a master of none, is still much better than a master of one!
You never know how important one of those hobbies may be, and the skills that go with it might come in handy for other things!
okay but waking up in the middle of the night to soft rain and knowing you’ve got hours to sleep, when you’re toasty warm and comfortable and sleep has made you forget all your worries and you go back to sleep feeling as content as ever.

Take care of yourself.🤍
hanging out with other ADHD people is such a balm. i can interrupt them midsentence and go “look at that nice duck!!” and they’ll immediately turn around and go “oh my god that is a GOOD duck” instead of just snapping at me to pay attention
And then we can immediately go back to what we were talking about without transition
