Is Red scared of how Toasty is an impostor?? How did they get into this relationship? Like Red love Toasty so that Toasty doesn’t kill them, or is there a moment where Red just went “wow… (-////-)”

Thank you !! , Well to start it off i built a pretty complicated lore for the both of them (mostly basing it around me and my friend's au of sorts.) so it might not make that much sense. (Toasty is just a nickname as well !! ^^)

To summarize, Tan harbors an intense disdain for them, holding them in contempt in every conceivable way. He regards them as foolish and insignificant, unworthy of his notice. Yet, however unwillingly, he is forced to tolerate their presence.

For several months, Tan maintained the pretense of serving as the official co‑pilot. Mira frequently arranged for Tan and Red to work together—primarily because headquarters required Tan to monitor and restrain Red, whose lack of competence was well‑documented.

And etc, etc blah blah blah... Eventually...

Eventually, during yet another joint mission, Tan committed an act of homicide in the navigation section, unaware that Red was standing just around the corner. Red witnessed the killing firsthand. Stunned by what they had seen, Red began to retreat, failing to notice that Tan had already locked the door behind them.

At that moment, Tan intended to eliminate Red immediately, but realized they would have no credible alibi to protect themselves. Instead, they revealed their true intentions and offered an agreement: they would spare Red’s life on the condition that the incident remained undisclosed. Fully expecting Red to report the crime, Tan remained prepared to kill them regardless—only to be taken by surprise when Red accepted the terms without hesitation (dude does not wanna die 😭✌️)

In the aftermath of these events, their connection grew slightly stronger. Tan continued to take lives long afterward (why? that's a story for another time..), leaving Red burdened with profound survivor’s guilt😢 though they could not bear to watch these acts, they remained unable to betray him. This shared secret drew them closer with every subsequent assignment, easing the intense friction that had once defined their relationship. Red’s affection and admiration for Tan became increasingly apparent, while Tan remained firmly in denial about his own feelings.

So yes if we're talking relationship I don't really uhm worked on that part much yet like dating, it's mostly complicated when i get to talk about tans' lore regarding their background and stuff hehe !! (It's not sunshine and rainbows💔💔)

Driver made me pay an extra $60 that was completely not in the original deal because “it’s 4am”, — and so I thanked him and paid the extra —and so he dropped me off at the edge of the neighborhood instead of by our building, and so I thanked him and then walked ten minutes home completed drenched in the storm. That car ride was so doomed and so fucking amazing I loved it so so much you don’t understand.”

As if Green is not the one who kept on killing me. Over and over again. As I follow them around tryna talk. And they laugh and be like “lore accurate” . As they kill me. Until under my efforts their stone heart finally gives in and they jump right to talking about… making babies???

Afterwards I find out the guy who plays Green goes by he/him and I feel terrible. It makes so much sense. I forgot there’s another type of Green fans. So that’s why he was trying to run away from the yaouri!!! I’m so sorry 😭

I used to have a digital epub of Journey to the West on my phone where there’s three ancient dudes’s commentaries spliced in. I downloaded it from the internet. It’s something like:

Dude A: before you read the chapter, here is the entire chapter through the lens of Buddhist allegory

Dude B: now that that guy has shut up, let me summarize everything at the end of the chapter and tell you about how it’s actually Taoist cultivation and alchemy

I know you’re into the Rusty Lake Paradise video game right now but can I ask you for possible among us show analysis?

Why do you think Green didn’t just kill one of Purple or Red at the end? Why would Green run away into the vents when Red attacks? Could there be. Possible character motivations, or do you think it’s just purely to make the good guys win?

Oh it was absolutely a complete plot contrivance. At most you can try to justify Green running away when being found out by momentary shock. The writers made the impostors too strong to realistically lose, is all. Now, I don't mind that, it makes for a better spectacle, but it means these kinds of situations will sometimes happen. I can pretend it was because of deep, unspoken character motivations if you want, though I have no idea what I could possibly say they were.

So frustrating when things happen for plot rather than for characters

So I started playing The Mermaid Mask when it came out (2 hours ago). I know all the chracters since I followed the game before it released, but I only talked to 3 people so far. I'm mostly writing this here as proof of what my thoughts are at the moment.

Gripp is so the killer, you can fucking quote me on that. And it's not just "the goofy silly guy turns out to be evil" either. Just in one conversation there's so much. His stick just so happened to need reaparing the night of the murder; he specifically said he "lacks upper body strength"; he has the most ironclad alibi for what is initially implied to be the exact second of the murder, yet after that stayed alone in a room he had no bussiness in for some time; he didn't go investigate the weird mysterious sounds after hearing different weird mysterious sounds a few minutes earlier because of "cowardice"; he's one of the closest people to the victim in the cast.

With murder mysteries I usually pick one suspect and try to force a solution around it, but I think I have something going for me this time.

I finished the game a day after this post. The worst part is, I can't even talk about it now because I live in the vain hope of making you play it and I don't want to spoil it.

I liked Tangle Tower a lot since 2019. I fucking loved The Mermaid Mask. I didn't really expect the cosmic horror angle, but I'm not complaining, it's great. Please play it. Like actually, it's so good. Though maybe start with Tangle Tower; it's less technologically advanced and the ending is weaker, but it's still very fun.

HOW DID YOU PICK UP ON GRIPP SO EARLY.

I didn’t think it was him until he started being very surprised that there was a recording of the culprit and the captain opening the black box. Very suspicious reaction. But that was practically at the very end, when we were presenting the evidences to everyone.

Gripp being the third person during Felicia and Mortuga’s voyage was one hell of a reveal. I enjoyed all the reveals very much. It’s like a retelling of the captain’s past history that we’ve been slowly piecing together the entire game, and the retelling changes how we view the entire story based on just one element added — Gripp being there. Like before, with just Mortuga and Felicia it’s a wholesome and perhaps melancholic story, and with Gripp added in it’s just one guy burning through everything to chase after this “unknown”.

Gripp staging a hot-air balloon crash so that the good guy Captain Mortuga can save him and thus bring him along the voyage is such an overused strategy by the demons in my favorite mythology book Journey to the West. Very random fact. But I just wanted to say that I love Gripp very much for this. This guy…

Uhhhhhh other random thoughts:

Mariana and Wirman should’ve became friends. They have such author vibes together. I understand that Mariana wants to be alone and mysteriously wandering though. She’s such a vibe

Glad that Sym and Sinthia get to go on adventures that doesn’t involve forever being in the bottom of the ocean. Tangle Tower reference I think

And that tadpole and zephyr gets to stay at the bottom of the ocean I guess since they kind of belong there

The art is so so beautiful

It’s funny that Felicia put on the Mermaids Mask, but I’m guessing all three of them — Felicia, Gripp, and Mortuga — were all spoken to by the mermaid? So is that why both Mortuga and Gripp both have some screws loose in their noggins, because we were told that the Mermaid Mask is a translator that lets you communicate with the mermaid without losing your mind.

Did Felicia BECOME the mermaid??? That mermaid was a straight up blond woman. Like why did Fecilia had that key specifically for the Mermaid’s Mask as her necklace anyways? It was even passed down from her mom. Maybe The Stonetops and the Seafoams have some sort of relationship because of that one news article where it seems like two of their ancestors found the sea serpent?

Not the Box That Was Actually Really Easily Opened… why was that an entire chapter…

Gripp throwing us a fixed compass before he summons the mermaid 😭😭 he really was looking out for us… even as an awol murderer… he’s not taking pleasure in killing or anything he just really wants that mermaid…

I guess the conclusion for chapter 1, that whatever was inside the cauldron is what killed Mortuga, was a red herring. MAN I fell for that red herring hard. I honestly was telling myself that the shape shifting impostor came out of the cauldron and went into the vents, that’s why there’s critter noises there

I wonder if anyone wrote fanfictions about Gripp’s life after he joined the mermaid… what would that be like…

Got a girls trip soon. Brainstorming how I can get my ex best friend to cuddle in bed with me.

To that ONE person who saw the old post I deleted. Yes it’s the same person I’m talking about. She invited me, and I miss waking up to her cuddling my shoulder. I have like one night to make cuddling happen again.

Current plan:

try to read her mind during the trip to get her whatever she wants

make sure she isn’t too tired (aka help her do stuff)

get to the hotel room early

the Netflix-and-chill : suggest a show to watch in bed together? Need to bring laptop. she likes gay shows. Problem is I’m not caught up on the popular gay media. Would need to do research.
