“why does someone MATURE like katara fall in love with a CHILD like aang?” fundamental misunderstanding of katara’s character and her dynamic with aang. she was forced to mature because she lost her mom but she is still, at the end of the day, a fourteen year old child.
she falls in love with aang because he doesn’t just represent hope for the world but he also gives her back her lost childhood with his whimsy. she gets to be silly and childish with him and that’s so important for her.
this fandom tends to adultify katara too much. she’s literally a kid. and it’s okay for her to be.
One of their interactions in the first fucking episode has them penguins sledding and when Katara says "I haven't done this since I was a kid!" Aang replies with, "You still *are* a kid" and yet some people forget about this
