Brought my sketchbook to work and drew this while I listen to people try to solve puzzles for a living.
I darkened the foreground shadows in PS a bit because all I had with me was my mechanical pencil and really light graphite and by the time I layered enough of it on the paper my hand would also be a shiny coal color. I wanted to bring my actual drawing pencils with me but I couldnāt remember where I put the little bastards.
Probably going to throw some color on this for funsies and see what happens!
Last recent commission. This one was more complex as I had to design a lot of details on the character from scratch. Often I get clients who donāt have solid visuals for their OCs so I have to help translate a partially formed idea into something visual.
the highlight of this one was the client being very clear that he needed stone abs and me thinking āyouāre damn right he doesā
Another recent commission. I do a lot of peopleās RPG characters, the sheer variety of different ideas and settings is fun for me to work on. Fun production fact: I found the old radio broadcast for The Shadow and binge-listened to a good chunk of it while painting this. All thatās stuck in my head is ye olde Blue Coal advertisement

One last lantern,
then itās out.
recent commission for a client.
I feel like Bob Ross would be proud of those mountains lol
I also made about 5 or so brushes for this painting because none of my current horde gave me the look I needed |D
More Atiq stuff from awhile ago.
Top one is a page out of my sketchbook digitally colored, and the bottom is the still version of a very simple background animation, which you can find here on my artstation gallery~
Weāre just slowly going to play art catch-up here donāt mind me.
Oh right, I have a tumblr oops
Hey all, I recently made some sketchbooks~ Iād really like to see these get into some artsy hands so Iām selling them for anyone who is interested :)Ā theyāre all 9ā³ x 6ā³, hand-bound, mixed media paper, great for pencil/ink/watercolor/journaling, the only thing it doesnāt seem to take well is alcohol based inks.
(these would be great for Inktober coming up, especially the Halloween ones lol)
$30 each add a custom doodle inside for $5
Message me on @catotheyoungest or email me at [email protected] if youāre interested in one of these.
Thanks<3
cross-posting from Twitter justĀ ācause
someoneās been listening to Carpenter Brut again
Forgot I wanted to put this up here as well >w>
Doing some concepting for some more djinn, this one is Tephras, the demon of ashes. From the little blurbs I found of him his thing seems to be darkness and ash, so I immediately thought of a smoldering, dying campfire, with white ash and charcoal and a few dying embers. Still have a couple more things I want to do with him so this is more progress than anything.
some cat-fish
also this is as close to #mermay as weāre gonna get this year haha
while Iām here have this shady merchant character I did forever ago
do not be fooled by the fluffy tail, heās absolutely horrible and would sell his own mother for a bag of chips.

This is something I use for photo-editing and for getting stuff print-ready, or if I just think the image could be sharpened a little. High pass has a little bit more of a focus on edges rather than just bright or dark pixels.Ā
You can also use an Unsharp Mask under sharpen in the Filter menu, if you want a couple extra sliders to fiddle with and donāt want to have a gray layer that you have to overlay. Either or can work just fine it just depends on your preference.
Another option is you can mask out bit of your filter layer so that some parts are sharper than others.
You can find this piece on my artstation!

āsup 2018 is an absolutely cursed year for me but hopefully itās taking a pause from being an absolute killjoy for a bit and I can get back to normal lol
have a thing thatās been sitting trapped on my drive forever.Ā Idk why I wanted to throw in some unicorns. Just for funsies, theyāre neat.
amt149 replied to your photo āalso remembered I made this super quick a while back, a short process...ā
Curious what brush settings you use for this?
Hello~! I use Adobe Photoshop CS6, for painting this I used one of the brushes from this pack:
http://digitalbrushes.tumblr.com/post/57851506218/zedig-alexandre-diboines-photoshop-brush-pack
(it looks vaguely like a triangle)
When I use the Smudge tool I choose something thatās fairly smooth, but the important bit for that is that you go into Brush Options and turn on Scattering, as well as keep the strength very low, no higher than 5%, otherwise it just looks like a hot mess ;p If you use Sai or something else Iām afraid I canāt help as I donāt use it ^^; but if you found something that is mostly smooth and has a hard edge that would probably work the same. For this process you essentially want a smooth brush, both hard and smooth edges on your flames, and using mostly colors to blend (: Thank you and good luck! <3
