I thought it was only fitting I do a pride piece for my Sasi college/human au, as this will be the first year I’m actually participating in my local pride parade! I love these losers so much, it was so fun to do this.

I adore early Sanders Sides as the characters are so unpolished. Especially Logan. His willingness to be silly, he’s still seen as the “me if I were a teacher” character instead of “Logic guy”. He and Patton are more parallel to each other. As the series continues, he stops providing much comedic relief, unless done so “unintentionally”. In the mind vs the heart, he says “thanks for teaching the teacher!” And honestly this is not something I could see late series Logan saying. One side of me is like “oh gee it’s so cool to see the writing change over the course of the series.” But the enthralled, immersed viewer side of me is like “omg what happened to him?? What killed his spark??? What HAPPENED!!” And it makes me want to put him in the blender myself

it absolutely kills me when i think about how muted they all are a lot of the time in the newer episodes.

the dialogue and short interactions and bits were my absolute favourite part about the early episodes! it feels like a show made to get a laugh out if you while teaching you important life skills and lessons (which is exactly what it is!) while stuff like the characters’ growth, development, the relationships between them and yadda yadda was playing in the background for everyone that wanted to get into it

now it feels like the lore/overall plot is at the forefront and all the dialogue is written around that rather than the other way around.

obviously shows, and especially ones like sanders sides, need to move the plot forward to make sense-there are only so many moral crises one can go through. and i know that everything like this changes over time and i’m not saying i don’t enjoy the show as it is now, just that it feels fundamentally different than what it used to be.

where’s their spark guys!? this is why you’ll see me frantically nod my head whenever someone says something along the lines of “the de-sassification of the sides needs to be studied!” i desperately need a full breakdown of it because i’m definitely not an english major
