You are aware that a fictional character is just a rhetorical construct designed to fulfill a narrative/thematic purpose right? That their actions are written by an author who wants to use them to explore complex ideas and moral gray areas within the safe confines of fiction right? That they aren't a real person who has killed real people right?
Saw another post about bras/shaving today. First, I do want to say that if you do not want to shave, don't. If you do not want to wear a bra, don't. That is your choice. Compared to some other choices I have seen people make that are, in my opinion, questionable it is not even on the scale.
However, I have always been a little puzzled by the whole 'symbol of oppression thing.' People's expectations have very little to do with why I make the choices I do.
Bra: Have you ever tried to run with no bra? It hurts. Something like operating a large riding lawnmower (which is one of my duties at work) fucking hurts. And I do not have large boobs.
Shaving: No real reason to shave in winter in my opinion. In summer I shave because I work outside and sweat + body hair = itchy legs. Armpits same plus less stink.
So yeah, do what you want. But some people do have logical reasons for these things rather than 'following expectations'
Generally I am a big believer in that the 'season' for a holiday starts no more than a month before the date. My two exceptions for this are buying a present I think someone would like and throwing it in my closet and planning my Halloween costume (no cheaply made expensive to buy single outfits for me). Anyway, I have an idea but I cannot decide whether it is good or not.
Imagine, you are at a trunk or treat and see someone dressed as a Christmas elf. A blow up reindeer has a cast on its leg. There are cardboard signs around that say things like 'North Pole or Bust' 'Will make toys for work' 'Help Dasher' ect.
Hey, weâre in line for some absurd temperatures here in the southwest this week. This is very important to know and keep in mind. Be safe, stay hydrated, stay out of the sun as much as you can.
Additional you can also put them on your palms, also, make sure to always use a light towel or kitchen paper and donât put the ice bags directly onto your skin!
For those of you not used to this kind of heat I would like to add that just water is not enough. If you are sweating you need electrolytes as well. Otherwise it is not going to matter how much water you drink. In order to stay healthy you need to drink both.
I've seen a lot of authors on AO3 being accused of using AI to write their fics and I want to clear the air and let you all know that I would rather barbeque myself alive and be served in a hot dog bun with mustard on the fourth of July than ever fucking use AI
While there is a great deal to be said about the advantages of a full time year around job there are a number of things I miss about working seasonally at Outdoor School. For example, during onboarding/training week the staff from each location came up with and performed a campfire skit. Being adults there were some real gems as opposed to the umpteenth rendition of the invisible bench.
I think one of my favorites was the 'Mediocre Circus' I was the bearded lady. When I got on stage the ringmaster asked what happened to my beard and I declared I had shaved it off because the Strongman and I had fallen in love and were running away together. Then I darted offstage.
Some of the other acts were the magician who was going to make an apple disappear. On the count of three he started frantically eating it. Our juggler carefully threw a single ball up and down. The lion tamer whisper hissed that they couldn't find the lion before a scream came from offstage. It was great. We pulled the program director on stage as our volunteer several times and then piled all the props in his arms at the end of the skit before declaring 'and finally ladies and gentlemen, our clown.'
Man, it would be nice if I could get campers to perform skits at a campfire.
I really do not understand why 'you need to pay the fee in order to use these facilities' on account of that said fees are then used to maintain said facilities is such a radical idea. It takes a lot of money to keep the park in good shape. Especially the bathrooms. Seriously, I can go check the parking lot and have 9 out of 10 cars trying to get away with not paying. And they wonder why the park systems budget is in the hole.
Just because we are close to the highway does not make us a Rest Area. You can tell because signs say so. Instead they say things like State Park, Fee Area, and Parking Permit Required pay here. We don't get your tax money. If you need to pee go stop at a Rest Area. There is one conveniently located 20 minutes north and twenty minutes south of us with three cities and two towns in between.
Man I wish I could just will words onto the page. I have like four other updates all figured out in my head if I would just sit down and write them
Different mood on this one but I thought it was interesting
Shanks
âHey kid.â
Ace was not entirely surprised Shanks had approached him. But he was somewhat baffled by the otherâs demeanor. He could not help flicking a glance at the mug in the redheadâs hand. Was Shanks drunk? Like drunk drunk, not just tipsy.
Seeing the look, Shanks laughed quietly. âIt is just coffee.â Contrary to popular belief, he did not subsist solely on alcohol. Folding his feet under him, the pirate sat down next to the smaller figure. âI need to speak to you Ace,â he said seriously. Â
Silver eyes turned wary. âAbout what?â
Shanks was silent for a long moment. Truthfully, he found himself wishing for some rum, even though he knew better. âBy this time,â he said softly. âI hope you know Roger was not a monster.â He took another sip of the coffee. âBut even if he was Ace, it wouldnât matter.â
Ace was confused. What?
âAnd I would know,â Shanks went on. âBecause the man whose blood flows through my veins is a monster.â
What?
âI donât make a habit of telling this story,â Shanks admitted, grip tightening on the mug. âAnd I would appreciate it if you did not spread it around.â
Somewhat woodenly Ace nodded in agreement, still somewhat in shock.
âI was born on an island that no longer exists,â Shanks shared. âI donât know much about my Mother. Well,â his lips quirked slightly before flattening back out. âOther than that she had bright red hair. I donât know how she met that bastard either, only I presume that he said and did all the right things until he had what he wanted.â It was somewhat hard to imagine that Garling was capable of being charming. Even if it had all been an act. But the other option was worse.
âSo he just left?â Ace ventured. He was young, but not so young he did not understand some men were assholes.
âIf only,â Shanks' eyes were dark. âNo, he came back when w-Iâ Shanks seemed to stutter. âWhen I was about on solid food. Not only did he murder my Mother, but he brought all of his friends along.â Shanksâ expression held absolutely no humor. âIt was a game you see. They assigned all the people on the island points and then hunted them like animals.â Â
Ace went dead white. âThat, thatâs sick.â Â
âMmm.â Power flashed in Shanksâ eyes briefly turning them red. âI agree, and I thank the seas everyday I was not raised by that man.â He turned to meet Aceâs eyes. âBut that does not change the fact I am the son of a monster.â
Whatever Shanks was looking for on Aceâs face, he found it. Nodding in satisfaction. âSo tell me Ace,â he said as he stood. âIf I was not born a monster, why would you be?â
Woe and phooey. While the pattern is going okay for something I am making myself this yarn sucks. It just snapped on me again as I was trying to make a tentacle. I wanted my glow in the dark jellyfish curse it all. Maybe I will be able to find a different yarn out there that is better made but still glows.
On a separate note. I do appreciate all the people who make videos of various techniques. I try not to be ungrateful. But it would be really nice if people would just get to the point rather than this insistence on sharing their life story.
Yes, I understand, you went on an epic quest for a witch in the deep woods so she would teach you how to curl icords. But, it has been almost five minutes now and you still have not cast on. How about you show the technique and then share any additional info you feel I need to know afterwards. Please.
While I read voraciously both fanfiction and published novels I would say at least half of the stuff I have written over the past few years has been for Naruto, specifically the Founders Era. I find it fun as the lack of canon material has allowed the community to create our own lore.
One of the fannon tropes I really enjoy is the idea of 'marriage hunt' which kinda ties in with 'marriage rope' I have an idea I am probably going to write and add to my 'Children of War' collection, however first I need to figure out some background.
In order for the 'marriage hunt' trope to be feasible in our fictional society there need to be some rules. Otherwise it would not be a marriage hunt, it would be kidnapping and sexual abuse. So, how does it all work? Well, here are my ideas.
Firstly these rules are enforced by the divine for the most part rather than mortal law. Most marriage hunt fics I have read put a somewhat stronger emphasis on kami. If you do not follow the rules you will end up cursed, dead, or both.
Second, the hunter is making a commitment. This marriage is their only marriage and there will not be anyone else. No cheating, no divorce. If you are widowed no remarriage. This relationship is the one and only.
Third, it is expected you treat your spouse with dignity and respect. You are honor-bound to acknowledge their kin as your kin. You cannot just haul someone off and be like mine now. They are your spouse, not your prisoner or your slave.
Fourth, who is allowed to be hunted. All participants must be of age and free of other commitments. You cannot hunt someone significantly above your social level (somewhat unfair but logical, we can't have some nobody marrying the lord's sister right)
Fifth, some legal recourse if the spouse is not being treated well. Probably handled by the temples rather than the courts. Not sure of all the details at this point but it would need to be there.
Was randomly wandering around the other day when I had an awesome plot bunnies strike me. Thus far I only have a single scene but maybe I will come up with the rest of the story someday. Or maybe someone will adopt it. That works too.
The premise is that something happens causing the ASL brothers to flee Dawn Island. I have read a couple variations on this theme. However, in this one they decide the best way to hide is a variant of their dine and dash disguise. A long coat with Ace the head and arms, Luffy the torso, and Sabo the legs. They practice learning to fight that way and get pretty good.
A few years down the line there is some sort of misunderstanding and Marco confronts them thinking they did whatever. At some point he kicks them hard with his talons in what he thinks is the stomach. Que a baffled moment where Marco thinks he didn't hit the guy hard enough to dismember him before Tiny Ace and Sabo crawl out of the coat and put themselves between Marco and Luffy.
Man, this is one of the times I wish I could draw. This scene would make an awesome comic.
While I think I am going to get my paperwork together and start looking again this year right now I just rent a tiny place so I have a decent amount of stuff in storage at my parent's house.
I am visiting right now and decided I need to have records of my movies so I do not end up with double copies. There is a pawn shop I go to that sells dvds 2/$1.00 so my collection has been expanding lately.
I do not have a huge collection so I initially going to make a spreadsheet but my computer does not have the right programs. Then I thought I could find an app. The apps do exist but a bunch of them have subscription fees. Personally I did not want to pay money to create a list so that was out.
So, I ended up reorganizing them and just taking pictures of each section. Tada. I will now be able to compare the photos to the stuff on my other shelf when I get home.
Anyone who works with the public in any fashion is well acquainted with not saying what they are actually thinking. But, I am sure we all dream about it. So, in a fantasy land where there are no real consequences, go wild. What would you say?
Scenario: You (F) are cleaning one of the park restrooms. Your cleaning cart, including the sign saying the restroom is closed, is right outside the door. You exit the stall you were working on to find a man standing at the urinal with his pants down/open.
Rebuttal (for anyone trying to claim the man is justified): If he had done the reasonable thing, which is to knock and use his words, I would have informed him there is a single stall bathroom available right around the corner of the building.
What do you say?
Say nothing and throw the toilet brush at him
excuse me. I don't get paid to see your weewee
don't tell me. let me guess. you're single
Pervert!
Get the fuck out!
Man, that must be the tiniest penis I've ever seen
So you're cool with people flashing your Mom/Sister/Daughter. Good to know.
'being single sucks because youll be lonely' lame and untrue. 'being single sucks because a lot of groceries are portioned to make food for more than one person and you cant really take advantage of buying in bulk because it'll go bad before you use it all' this i cannot deny.
