1) there’s been young kids in this fandom forever and that’s never necessarily been a problem, i was a young kid when i created this blog and i know many of u were as well and it was never an issue. the books are aimed at kids. it follows that they will get a surge of popularity after this. we’re literally one of the biggest book fandoms out there - gatekeeping literally makes no sense for new york times best sellers lol

2) ‘but they will ruin the fandom!’ see above re: kids aren’t dumb and they CAN create good content. plus there’s always been stupid people here (as well as everywhere) and what did we do? we just ignored them! there’s an entire different pjo fandom over on instagram and there was literally a whole ass blog to make fun of it here because we (tumblr) make different content and that’s OKAY. if you don’t like it ignore it but we’re all grown ass adults now, i think we’re mature enough to accept that going after lil kids for their harmless ig posts is… just not needed. also something that would have broken our hearts if it’d happened to us back in the day so just put yourselves in their shoes for a moment

3) i’ve been in this fandom happily for 10 yrs because i found my little niche of people who want similar things wrt content and fandom experience and they’re the ones i interact with. most of the time idek what’s happening in the rest of the community and it’s great lol. i know there’s other kinds of blogs/content and i literally do not care. let them do their thing. i’m doing mine, we’re doing ours, they’re doing theirs, and in the end it’s ALL fine. this idea that there’s a better/worse ‘type’ of blogger aka only older ones, that there’s a better kind of content is really stupid bc at the end of the day we’re all nerds talking about a children’s series lol like. yes of course you are allowed to prefer things over others but this idea of bullying and going after people who are mostly under 15 is uh. yeah it’s bad
