writing dialogue for Astarion in like a normal text editor is very difficult actually because it feels like all his dialogue should be created with WordArt

Something I love about confronting Cazador is how he obviously never processes that Astarion has friends until it's too late.
Petras and Dalyria must have mentioned that Astarion wasn't alone when they met him, but when you read Cazador's journal? He's 100% fixated on Astarion. How Astarion stood in the sun, how Astarion was willing and able to disobey him. And when Astarion shows up, Cazador barely acknowledges the party at all - and sure, that's partly because this is Astarion's moment in the narrative, but Cazador doesn't so much as ask why these random strangers are there! They're not part of his plans, so they don't exist.
And then they immediately save his errant spawn from the ritual and start beating his ass.
Just. What must have been going through Cazador's head when that fight starting turning against him? 'Is that... the Blade of Frontiers? Why is a monster hunter - and is that a cleric? - helping a vampire spawn? An undead? Ah, but they must be treating it as a necessary evil to have a chance to slay me, of course - hold on, why is the cleric healing Astarion? Why does that wizard keep Counterspelling everything I'm casting at Astarion, why waste the spells when I'm not even targeting him? Did... did that druid just cast Daylight on Astarion's weapons? And that brute of a tiefling - that's not just disgust in her eye when she looks at me, it's fury - and she keeps putting herself in front of Astarion, why in the hells would she - she's running right at me- '
I hope that one of the last things Cazador ever knew was the choking realisation that Astarion didn't just come back strong, or free. Astarion came back loved.
Q&A: WHY?
books-netflix-and-pizza said: Hi, one question. Why?
So, below this cut is a discussion of WHY a character in LoS died. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ LOS.

Who's the Warlock?
We all know after reading the Bane Chronicles that Tatiana Blackthorn dedided to bring back to life her poor boy Jesse, asking Magnus to do a very Dark Magic, and how he refused. And we also know, looking at the Herondale family tree, that Will and Tessa's daughter Lucie will marry Jesse Blackthorn - Tatiana did it. She resurrected her son. But who helped her? Who's the powerful warlock who had to kill five nameless Shadowhunters? My instinct says that the answer is in Los. I wonder who's the green Warlock named "Shade" at the London Shadow Market. And how is he related to Mortmain and John Taddeus Shade. I believe he was the warlock who resurrected the Midnight Heir, who let the Blackthorn family survive. I can't wait to read The Last Hours.
I was re-reading City of Lost Souls
Question about Jon Cartwright's parents. Are they dead? Why is he in the academy? Is It possibile that Jon's father was the Shadowhunter who had taken Amatis to the Burren? Because in TfSA he was told to shut up - something about the miserabile actions his parents have done (?) I need to know.
I really really loved this moment
“And try not to get Drusilla and Tavvy into trouble. Remember, Mark is in charge.”
“Does he know that?” said Livvy.
Julian sought Mark in the crowd on the steps. He was standing with his hands behind his back, exchanging a mistrustful look with a carved stone gnome. “Your pretense does not fool me, gnome,” he muttered. “My eye will be upon you.”
Julian sighed. “Just do what he says.”

Shadowhunter Family Mottoes: Blackstairs Edition
1-Lightwood: “We mean well.”
2-Herondale: “Chiseled but angsty?”/ “If you don’t know what your last name is, it’s probably Herondale.”
3-Carstairs: “We have a sword.”/ “Blunt instruments are for losers.”
4-Morgenstern: “When in doubt, start a war?”/ “Has even one of us ever been any good, like ever, seriously.”
I absolutely ADORED this scene between Emma and Jules and need more of it. Btw’s my favorite quote was the 2nd Herondale one.
So, here's the deal.
I'm quite mind-blowed about Lord of Shadows' new characters. WHO THE HELL IS SHADE?? AND ASH??? Is Shade Ragnor? Or is he John Taddeus Shade/ the warlock father of Mortmain in Infernal Devices? How did he even survived? Why did he chose this name in case he wasn't Mortmain's dad? And he was in the LONDON Shadow Market, plis. And Ash in Fairie? Is he the son of the Seelie Queen and Sebastian? And whyyy was he in the Unseelie? Was he kidnapped by the king? Is it why the Queen wants to destroy the King and wants the Book of the dead? And is it why the Queen disappeared for a long time after the Cold Peace? IS ASH THE WEAPON SEBASTIAN LEFT TO THE QUEEN? IS HE CLARY AND JACE WENT TO FAIRIE ABOUT? I HAVE SOO MANY QUESTIONS

books i’ve read: The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.
“Pulvis et umbra sumus. It’s a line from Horace. ’We are dust and shadows’. Appropriate, don’t you think?“ Will said. “It’s not a long life, killing demons; one tends to die young, and then they burn your body - dust to dust, in the literal sense. And then we vanish into the shadows of history, nary a mark on the page of a mundane book to remind the world that once we existed at all.”
That’s funny because it never really happens
