Intro to Me!!
Seeing as I've been using the blog more often than before, I figure its about time to actually introduce myself to the world!
I’m gonna share one of my “secret” struggle meals for when the money’s tight. Boxes of hamburger helper generally are pretty cheap (I buy them on sale for $1.50), and off brand’s usually even cheaper. “But hamburger is expensive!” you say, “and I have no milk!”
This is my secret:
1. You don’t need the milk; just sub in more hot water. (You can do this for boxed mac and cheese too. I literally only make mine with water, no butter or milk, and I can’t tell the difference.)
2. A pound of lentils are way cheaper than beef, and they increase in size. I cook half a pound of lentils (put in pot with about 2x as much water as there are lentils, I eyeball it. Then add beef bouillon, I do about 7 teaspoons or 7 cubes. Bring to boil, reduce to simmer, cook for 25-30 min til it’s the texture you want.) This will make over a pound of cooked lentils. Now, you could reduce the amount so you have closer to what a pound of beef would be, but this way, the meal stretches more. The beef bouillon gets it close to that flavor that hamburger would have, but if you don’t have beef bouillon, you can omit, or add the seasonings you do have (salt, pepper, etc; coordinate your spices to the flavor Helper you have)
Then you just dump in the hamburger helper stuff and the water and cook according to the directions. Very easy, much cheaper, tastes just as good. The other nice thing is that this recipe doesn’t need monitoring, so you can set it and forget it (metaphorically). Make sure to serve with bread to make the meal stretch even further.
Hope this helps those of you who need it.

Good News to all Good Omens fans!
(Please read this, it doesnt take long to read and recording and editing all of this took me a whole week of non-stop work)
I have made a Youtube Playlist of all of Good Omens put into chronological order.
Originally I just had a notes document with all the time stamps put into chronological order (with labels) but I have now made it a reality!
The notes document is still accessible for everyone on my account (currently it’s the pinned post but I think once I upload the YouTube link, that will be the pinned post) and if you would rather watch Good Omens in Chronological Order manually, then feel free to do so :D
The Link for the Youtube playlist will be posted on my account on Sunday 21st April, just after teatime (4:45pm BST, 11:45am ET, 10:45am CT, 9:45am MT & 8:45am PT). It will also become a public playlist so if you look up ‘Good Omens in Chronological Order’ it should come up
If this post gets deleted it's because I need more time to figure some things out.
Here is the link to the tumblr post with all the links
(please share this so people see it, i hate to ask but so much effort was put it. Thank you <3)
I wrote out how to watch Good Omens in chronological order if for some reason you wanted to do that.
I miss-typed for hell in the 1970s. It’s supposed to be Episode 5 21:27 - 22:26
Edit: I’ve made a Youtube Playlist with this all recorded and put into order, it took me a week of solid work but I got there. The link is in the pinned post on my profile and is in my bio.
my housemate is watching Good Omens with me in the sense that he just drops in on random episodes and tries to piece it back together (he says he prefers this). so we were on s1e3 and we got to "I'll toss you* for Edinburgh" and he was like "are you telling me people think this is platonic" and I was like... yeah some people, and then we got to "little demonic miracle of my own" and he was just like, they're obviously in love with each other

if you’re white and wanna write a poc character and feel awkward about it i implore you to ignore any twitblr stuff treating it as a massive ethical burden and instead come in more with the same mindset you’d have if you wanted to write about idk firefighters but didn’t know anything about firefighters so you do... research. Like fuck off with the weird kinda creepy calls for spiritual introspection you’re not writing about god damn space aliens you’re writing about humans and if you think you need more perspective of different life experiences just read?
If I were writing about firefighters I'd also, in addition to just reading about them, take advantage of Our Blessed Internet to ask actual firefighters about how shit works. I'd do the same for a minority I'm not a part of.
I remember when there was this LiveJournal community where you could just ask about anything you needed for your novel - medicine, professions, vehicles, how things function in country X - and people who knew something about that would answer.
We need to bring this back.
And apparently just this summer they DID bring it back - it's called Little Details and it's on Dreamwidth!!!!
Aziraphale Does Not Have Religious Trauma
We talk a lot about Aziraphale's trauma when we discuss his motivations and choices, particularly the ones we don't like. But what we don't talk enough about is the KIND of trauma he has, and it's not what we think of when we think of religious trauma. We have to remember that everything that Aziraphale has been threatened with and terrified by in his existence. It's REAL.
When a human has religious trauma it's generally because they've been abused and conditioned by threats of hell and damnation and judgement and so forth, and part of the healing process is realizing that it's a bunch of bullshit from an abuser with a power trip. That's not the case with Aziraphale. The angels are mostly bastards, but I'm willing to bet most of them believe in the Great Plan and genuinely believe in what they're doing. Because God is real, hell is real, and you really can be tortured for eternity if you step out of line. Aziraphale saw it happen. I can't even imagine what that must have been like.
When he tries to stop Elspeth from digging up bodies, it's not from some vague moral qualm; it's very practical concern for her future. He knows hell is real and doesn't want this young woman to suffer. And the excitement in his face when he realizes that it's more complicated than that and there are moral justifications for it. "Good news, I've found a work around!" Aziraphale the rules lawyer my beloved. He's managed to survive all this time by finding justifications for evading the rules, but when the most powerful angel in heaven drops in for coffee and a chin wag, that's not an option anymore.
I just really feel like we need to have this in the front of our minds when we're answering every Why? with "Trauma." I mean, yes he has trauma, but it won't be cured by developing stronger self esteem and giving heaven the finger. (Satisfying as that would be.) It will be cured by tackling the source and ending the very real physical threat that heaven poses to himself and Crowley.
This is so important!
