i have so much to say about the new descendants movie but i will say. it wasn’t terrible.

it was eons better than rise of red production wise. costuming, set, and music was all much better and the overall descendants vibe from the first three movies was actually preserved, somewhat.

plot wise, it was basically descendants 3 but sped up with a few extra plot points from other films. it felt like a tapestry of other dcoms idk.

i’m quite upset with blatant plot holes like the smee twins suddenly looking 20 y/o when in the third movie, which took place like two years ago, they were at most 10. ik the time traveling could’ve switched some stuff around but then you’re getting into plot shattering territory. the carlos picture still implies significance of the core 4 but showing that the smees can change ages completely jeopardizes the integrity of the og trilogy. it’s better to separate these new era films from the original three for my sanity.

also, the queerbaiting is insane.

the choice of new characters pmo. harry hook magically has a sister he never talked about, ofc the smees, celia has a brother now????? again, time travel stuff, ik, but this just like, doesn’t make sense to do. there are so many other disney characters and films that haven’t been talked about yet. tiana???? gronk??? ezma???? esmeralda??? encanto came out so recently and the main love interest is luisa’s son. to tap into a newer audience i suppose, i didn’t hate it though. i just really want a tiana character.

other than all my complaints about plot i actually enjoyed the movie a lot despite the flaws. actually loved it. they cooked up i fear.
