swiggity swag-- i am a stag PLOT POST.
will’s bio in verse is here . please like this post and i will send you an IM or ask to plot. will needs lots of everything pretty much.
NAME: will graham AGE: 35 GENDER: male OCCUPATION: bartender @ inferno ( secretly a detective under deep cover )
any amateur armchair psychologist would probably blame will’s twitchy neurotic nature on deep set mommy issues and the nomadic nature of his childhood afterward, but the fact is abandonment issues don’t really explain him. && will’s not the sort to sit around while some doctor tries to peel him apart or dissect him into parts. will would describe himself as just a little ‘wrong footed’ but that’s because it’s hard to describe an empathy disorder && the sort of visual imagination that drove people like van gogh to cutting off his own ear insanity.
don’t get will wrong, he’s not crazy. just a little bit unstable, at least that’s why the FBI turned him down when he tried to go federal agent. so he’s stuck as a detective even though his degrees in criminology & psychology make him slightly overqualified in a sea of middle-aged pudgy donut eaters who put in enough years as a beat cop that they pretty much had to be promoted.
but it gives will the advantage that because he brings in so many collars, he’s given privacy & leeway in what he wants to pursue. his captain was dubious about him going in to inferno. (but who knows whose pocket he’s in) the truth is money has a smell & dirty money even more so. & yeah drugs explain a lot of the money of what’s going on at inferno but will’s pretty sure there’s more to this story than just some tawdry drugs & junkie strippers. but at a place like inferno, there might be too many sins for even will to sort through & more MONSTERS than even he was bargaining for.
NOTES: nobody at the club knows what will’s actual profession is, and he picked up bartending to put himself through college in the first place so he has the skills to blend in. also it’s unclear how much of will being there is will’s idea and how much is actual assignment.
“I’ve grown familiar with villains that live in my head.”

you're completely covered in dog hair. go shower or something
“ i have six dogs, steven, it’s kind of an occupational hazard. “
this from the man he’s seen stagger in covered in cement dust & blood that isn’t always his. to have him complain about dog hair seems a bit like a betrayal.
“ being covered in dog hair is my aesthetic. “
❛ i thought i detected an accent, but it’s faint. didn’t stay down there long ?? ❜ his attention pulls away from the pack of mutts yanking in every direction ( honestly, it feels like his fingers are starting to cramp, and he’s practiced with the shield for HOURS ) to side-eye will. ❛ can’t remember the last time i visited anywhere near the gulf. ❜
or, he can, but he’s had practice with bleaching ANY memory dealing with spangly tights and a cloth cowl. it’s not like he’s avoiding it, there are just some things that need to stay buried —— if only STARK got that memo. if rogers hears ‘star spangled man with a plan’ again, he’s going to brain the guy on the sidewalk in times square. fury’s one-eyed glare be damned.
( though, if rogers were to bet, with stark gone, fury might just loosen up. )
❛ sure, the dogs. ❜ a knowing smirk tucks into a cheek, and rogers stuffs his free hand into his jacket pocket.
will blinks, slightly surprised at himself. it’s easy to forget that despite the time they spend together, will has divulged very little of his life. they have such a -- natural rhythm, a casual air that will finds he likes. rogers always seems to know what will needs him to understand & with will, understanding others has never been the problem.
( what he wouldn’t do at times for a little less understanding of humanity. )
but will’s only ever seen it from the criminologist point of view, he’s seen the savagery of humanity. pick through too much of it’s brutal viscera-- it’s easy to forget there’s more to it than that. maybe at some point will forgot that humanity & monstrosity don’t always share a bed in the same soul.
“ i forget sometimes-- what a good ear you have. but yes-- born in louisiana but i can’t say i spent much time anywhere in particular. “
will understands the concept of roots, of home & family. he’s wanted those things at times, a yearning for something mundane and familiar. but comfortable. being known. -- letting himself be known by somebody else. it doesn’t come naturally or easily and the ending last time he thought--- well, it was messy.
“ my father was a--rolling stone type. so i never gathered much moss. “ he’d never settled, lived nomadically. will had never focussed on external things, had never become attached to objects or relationships around him because there was never any security or permanence to them. he’d held to the things he could keep, things internal that went with him wherever he was.
( it was a good way not to miss things, or p e o p l e. )
“ yup, just the dogs. “ he said, smile tucked into the corners of his mouth. huh, apparently he hasn’t forgotten how to smile. though it still feels rusty, disused.
“ -- i mean you are a very talented dog walker. “
murder, generally speaking, makes for bad business. now, extortion, blackmail, embezzlement, exploitation, illicit sex scandals, bribery –––– the business world will stand for anything but clear-cut blood on one’s hands is a little more of a challenge to explain away with silver-tongued press and money tucked into the right, greased palms. murder reeks of guilt, and death always leaves a messy, residual strike against one’s record. the newspaper folded twice neatly at the seams lays on his desk, innocuous now in its slumped state and deceptively subdued. MURDER AT STARK INDUSTRIES made page six. by now, he’s lost count of how many times he’s made page six, but he’s much more fond of the alleged affairs and the dozens of socialites, contessas and screen sirens linked all at once to his name. ms. arboghast’s ringing cuts clear through the brooding that’s been gathering overhead like a dark cloud before a storm, and he sends word to have the visitor directed to his office. in his bespoke designer suit, a guilty chain of rumors and stories surrounding his playboy extraordinaire reputation ––– that tony stark, they’re whispering already, wouldn’t put it past him; seems like the type, all those women he’s always with ––– he understands perfectly how the situation appears from the outside. to frame him is textbook. accusations ranging from the commonplace to the wildly unbelievable ( tony stark ? iron man ? ) are a part of the daily language of his enemies & critics. but to believe him capable of a ritualistic slaughter . . .
tony smiles as the man enters the room, standing and circling round the edge of his desk to offer his hand, a reflex as ingrained as the polite, charisma-steeped smile on his face. “ mr. graham. thank you for agreeing to come. i know the private jet was extravagant but this is a matter of urgency, but of course you’re no stranger to that. ” in a tone more blasé than perhaps appropriate –– still, like instinct, decades of business practice hammered into the iron lining his veins: a little liquor to ease the way, stir warmth in allies and rivals alike and loosen their tongues –– his chin inclines at the glass liquor cabinet not far from his desk. “ –––––––– can i get you anything to drink ? ”
will has to admit-- the private sector isn’t what he was expecting. a life without jack crawford breathing on the back of his neck, trusting will but only while will was in his sight. worrying he’d fall to pieces as soon as he disappeared from view. there was the guilt too, carried around in his gut like he was forever nauseous, but he needed to be a real boy. an actual fully formed person, not just a monster catcher, more machine than man.
to be honest he’d never had reason to think that tony stark, yes, that tony stark would need the services of somebody like him. murder & mayhem make for strange bedfellows, even if he’s not fbi anymore, he’s still got a knack for the weird ones. a reputation for crawling inside a case, a crime scene, being able to parse out the evidence into a fully formed picture. a story is really all it is, being good at filling in the blanks.
every murder is a story-- every killer has something they think is worth saying.
“ i’ve heard you’re a difficult man to say no to. “
will hasn’t heard that but he can tell it’s true as he takes mr. stark’s hand, shakes it briefly before withdrawing as quickly as can still be considered polite. it’s not that will thinks he’s guilty-- the opposite really, but will won’t ever be the type to linger in physical touch.
but it was something to ride on a private jet, with flight attendants that looked like super models asking if he wanted a hot towel.
& to think less than a year ago he was behind bars, even friends convinced he’d lost himself to the mind of somebody else.
his life is in a word: surreal.
“ i probably shouldn’t. you’ll want me sharp for a crime scene. maybe after. “ he says, quietly. he shifts on his feet, he never thought he’d be standing here with a superhero. but he supposes nobody is immune to false allegations. those in the public eye less so.
Time for an Advent Calendar Style Icon Giveaway
I may be alone in this, but Advent Calendars are one of the best parts of the holiday season. Every day from December 1st - Christmas morning you get to open up a new box and get a new treat or see a new picture or be privy to a new secret. So this December, I’m running my own Advent Calendar!
25 people who reblog this post will win an icon set of 50+ icons and a customized .psd, and the winners will be revealed day by day throughout the month of December as I post their prizes! Big chance to win, awesome payoff, no reason to not enter, right?
Here are the rules:
1. All entrants must be following me, but we don’t have to be mutuals. Also, don’t unfollow after; that’s not in keeping the holiday spirit.
2. All entrants must REBLOG this post (likes do NOT count!) and put their faceclaim/character in the tags for my own ease so I don’t have to ask and ruin the surprise.

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!

“ i’ll say one thing for the south-- they’re a lot less serious about leash laws. “ will says, unable to miss all the signs relating to dogs posted all over the park.
will lives in close enough to civilization to NOT be in the middle of nowhere. but it’s certainly the outskirts of nowhere special. lots of farm land and large houses on bigger plots of land. the kind of place that is ideal for the paranoid & antisocial.
but when he’s in steve’s neck of the woods, he always prefer to bring the dogs with him as opposed to kenneling them. ( alana used to watch them-- but that’s a loss better put on a high shelf where he can’t reach it often. )
the leashes sort of have benefits though, especially when rogers is holding them in one large paw of a hand.
“ thank for coming with me though. you know-- the dogs missed you. “
yeah-- the dogs, nothing about his personal opinion.
Often, it’s not about becoming a new person, but becoming the person you were meant to be, and already are, but don’t know how to be.

Will Graham: 85% heterosexual, 100% done with humanity.
obsidian; which of the seven deadly sins would your muse be
Wrath.
Though God forbid he show that. Even to himself-- but anger squirms in him living & vital. That’s what unsettles him so much about Hannibal-- that he reaches that well controlled fire in him, nurtures that flame. Makes Will burn under his fear & neurosis. It makes Will angry that Hannibal can make him angry.
Will functions by being emotionally unaffected.
MUSE IS UNDER TRUTH SERUM FOR ONE HOUR. ASK ME ANYTHING. NOTHING IS OFF LIMITS AND EVERYTHING MUST BE ANSWERED. GO!
Not all love is gentle. Sometimes it’s gritty and dirty and possessive, sometimes it’s not supposed to be careful or soft at all. Sometimes it feels like teeth.
