what did you think of thinx?
I personally like them and am still wearing the pairs I bought years ago. They are bit pricey but totally worth and they now have more styles and colors to choose from.
When I was 17 my appendix ruptured because I thought I was just having period cramps and didn’t go to the hospital so don’t tell me PMS symptoms are no big deal
this actually happened to me during my math final and i didn’t think anything of it and when i was later admitted to the hospital my math prof was asking me ‘you didn’t have to take the final! why didn’t you tell me it hurt?!?!’ and i told him i’ve had cramps worse.
he gave me 100
This is actually an extremely common occurrence simply because in sex ed they don’t teach you how to tell the difference between menstrual cramps and other more serious pains. The way to tell the difference between cramps and appendicitis is that while menstrual cramps are generalized toward the middle of the stomach below the belly button, pain from a swollen or burst appendix will start in the middle of the stomach and relocate to only the lower right side, even lower than menstrual cramps, and is a very localized pain. It also comes on extremely suddenly and will worsen over time or when you make a sudden movement, like a cough or a sneeze.
Basically, if you’re feeling any sort of pain, even if it’s menstrual cramps, don’t hesitate to tell the school nurse or a parent, or if you’re out of school and home even make a doctor’s appointment. Chances are if your cramps are that bad there’s something they can do to improve that as well.
I am boosting the shit out of that reply, because I am twenty-fucking-five years old and did not know how to tell the two pains apart
Adding another diagnostic tool! This is something we use in the ER called the rebound test. Basically, appendicitis and cramps react differently to certain things. If you’re still not sure if you have cramps or appendicitis, take two fingers and press them into your abdomen where the pain is (try repeating this on the lower right quadrant of the abdomen just to be sure.)
When you press in firmly, it will probably hurt. Here’s the test: LET GO. Does it get better or get worse? Appendicitis will immediately hurt worse when you let go. Cramps will not. Go to the ER if the rebound test makes it worse!
THE REBOUND TEST IS REALLY IMPORTANT.
My husband got sent home from the ER with a rupturing appendix. When he came back and was rushed into surgery, the surgeon was super angry – “Why didn’t anyone do the rebound test?!”
All great info, but there is another lesson to be learned here: if you’re in major pain, it’s probably important - so don’t let anyone tell you it’s not. There is a documented pattern of women who go to the ER with complaints of pain being dismissed as overreacting…when in reality women have an incredibly high tolerance for pain, to the point that some don’t even realize exactly how serious their condition is. These stories only serve to illustrate this point.
Reblog to literally save a life.
I know a girl who thought she was having cramps but because she’d never had them before, when they got bad she went to the ER. Turns out she had a cyst the size of a grapefruit on her ovary and it had ruptured. Sometimes it really is just cramps, but sometimes it isn’t. Look out for that shit.
Hi, I am one of these people. I went to the ER twice for such severe pain, it hurt to breathe or walk. One doctor said she saw cysts on my ovary, the ultrasound reports said there were no cysts. Two weeks later, a specialist looked at bloodwoork and the same scans and confirmed PCOS- cysts and swelling in my ovaries. I’ve seen a ton of doctors lately and most of them don’t take pain seriously as a symptom until it’s absolutely something they can’t ignore, like with a diagnosis. If you are in severe pain, please take it seriously for your own health. Insist on answers. It is a warning sign that something is going on in your body.
It has arrived and I feel so betrayed
My period has arrived; and as usual I feel betrayed that it has already been a month since the last one. Like I know it is normal for it to come about every 28 days or so, but like why do I have to bleed every month. I’m not trying to complain too much about it but like I don’t have time for these pls feels right now.
Here is a before from a few months back before
Alrighty now that I am in the clear and the monthly blood shed is over I want to talk to you all about something. This period here was the first period I have had in almost 10 years that I didn’t need to take any ibuprofen, advil,Aleve,Tylenol, ECT like ever!!!! Like ever since I got my period back when I was a small tween I have always had terrible cramps, like the kind where you are sitting on the toilet with a bucket in your lap throwing up with diarrhea praying for it all to end type of cramps. Through out middle school and high school and even in my post high school professional work adult life I had heavy painful periods. Since money and not liking pharmaceuticals were always a problem I never went on any birth control, but I did research natural ways to treat/cure period pains. Long story short the best way to treat them that I have found is changing up your diet by removing animal products and processed junk, since I have gone vegetarian a few months ago my period life has improved incredibly. I have noticed the less animal products I consume and the bigfer the abundance of whole plant foods I eat the better, easier, lighter, nicer my periods have become.
Seriously y'all I had tried almost every thing to help with the discomfort of my periods and the best thing I found was eliminating animal products (primarily meat for now) and processed food and eating a more whole plant based diet
Is it okay to sleep on your side when you're on you're period and only use pads and don't feel comfy using tampons? (I'm asking bc I like side sleeping but I'm scared of leaking?)
It is perfectly acceptable to sleep on your side even on your period. (I'm a side sleeper regardless of the time of the month and always have been.) In fact several science studies sleeping on your left side specifically makes digestion of food a whole lot easier on the body. If you are worried about leaking you can always put a towel down to protect your bedding. In the event that you get any blood on your clothes just rinse them with COLD water and lightly scrub them in a sink.
I'm on my last pair of thinx I bought and so far I like them, not only are they cute, they also serve a purpose
Today I tested the boy short version of the thinx underwear Honestly I like these ones much better than the high waisted ones. They are very comfy and are totally gender neutral. The absorbent material supposedly can hold up to 2 tampons worth of blood. They held up a good fight today and never leaked any blood or bled through to my shorts and pants.
These are seriously the most expensive articles of clothing that I own I sure do hope they are worth it
So I decided to buy thinx underwear ( the brand that has underwear that is designed to replace pads and tampons) last month and this month I am giving them a try I'll let you all know how good they are
If you ask me a question on here
I primarily use the mobile app so it could be a little while before I respond. I am not a medical professional, so if you are concerned you may have a medicle condition please contact your parents ( if you are underage) and consult a medical professional
tips for 1st time tampon users?
Take a deep breath and relax, use the right size for your flow , and keep in mind practice makes perfect ( you will get faster at putting them in and getting in a comfortable position in time)
Kinda unrelated. I'm 13 and need tips on how to make my boobs bigger. (I've had my period long enough so it's not irregular anymore if that matters at all?) Any sure tips?
They will come in time.
There are some pads that are fairly quiet: I think body form is nearly silent ?
I'm sure there are some brands with quieter packaging. I have never used body form soon can't comment on that brand.
Aren't natural sea sponges really bad for your lower parts though? Can't they cause bad problems if you use them? Cause thats what I've been told..
Most potential problems that can happen are caused through misuse and lack of propper cleansing/sanitation before and after each use. They are fairly safe as long as you properly clean and care for them.
