"Good Morning, Rose"
My short story for the wlw anthology GLIMM*R!
Turns out it's Yuri Day, so please enjoy my yuri comic about dreams and first dates!
Eridians must be absolutely amazed that Grace can be woken up before his sleep cycle is finished. They take advantage of this and fit the biodome's bedroom with a remotely-triggered alarm system, so if something ever goes wrong with the life support systems while Grace is asleep, they can wake him up and have him move to safety. But, being that their sleep is more like a deep dormancy, they WAY overestimate what it takes to forcibly wake someone up.
The first time they have to use it (over something stupid like a tiny ammonia leak), Grace wakes up to like three different foghorns and a hundred camera flashes going off at once and is like HOLY GEEZ THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US
(eta: check out the multiple wonderful arts of this made by cosmo-vostok, goodieprocter, scrambled-aegis, and couponsfortherapyplz! you all are awesome :D)

Think fast, you magnificent dumb-dumb
Big fan of college party animal Ryland âitâs been a long time since I took a pill from a stranger without knowing what it wasâ Grace who is a notorious menace.
Big fan of high academia Dr Ryland âwill call you a staggering waste of carbonâ Grace who is a short tempered, egotistical, and kind of a jerk.
Big fan of how Ryland Grace can be both these things but while still having his same fundamental personality as a good person and wet cat.
Big fan of how itâs generally agreed that teaching burned the evil out of him and let his whimsy shine.
Big fan of how it took arguably the most difficult and deranged demographic of the human population (thirteen year olds) to turn that man into the best version of himself.
smartest cat ever!
Donât worry, itâs not an insult! Calling someone âthe shitâ is actually a common earth compliment!

I really do think that to Eridians, the most alien thing about us is our obsession with space.
Space (and stars) are a much newer concept to Erid, at least relative to us. They cannot perceive stars. They can't even see their own sky.
And then here we are, utterly obsessed. The number of songs, movies, and TV shows that reference stars, the moon, our sun, it's light, astronauts, space â we can hardly go five minutes without bringing up at least one of those things. NONE of them are things Eridians have an established affinity for; to them, they're scientific concepts, and that's pretty much it.
And yet, stars are one of the first things our kids learn how to draw. We have a specific name for the connections we trace between them, and those constellations have been built into thousands of years of our history. We fought a proxy war based on who could get to them the fastest. I absolutely believe that, to Erid, this would be our defining characteristic above and beyond anything else.
It's almost cliché. How thematically on point it must be from their perspective, that an alien from a species so in love with the stars was the one to show up and save theirs.
Iâll find a new place to be from
I tried hot yoga for the first time the other day and almost passed out so naturally he must also suffer đ§
After finally watching the movie and reading half of the book I now can start drawing my new obsession :D
I did this little drawing for my mom since she like the movie a lot too, but here it is.
