i kinda wanna make icons for kya, but there’s only so much you can do with a model fc. like yes it’s in-character for ky to be all smiley and everything, but it’s very minimal changes in expression and how am i gonna do angst things with that?! which is inevitable because i always end up doing angst things because they’re my favourite!!!

Absently Karen rubbed her hands against her thighs, as if that would ward away and wash away any blood that was on it. The mismatched bagel had Karen smiling as it was handed over, but Kya’s question made the smile drop and she looked up at her. Shit, she’d seen her reaction? Karen shook her head, “No, you didn’t say anything wrong. It’s just…” How to explain to someone what happened? “Uh, before…when I first moved here, I had this job, and I found some really sketchy things that were going on there. So I contacted a guy who worked for the legal side of the company to talk to him about it. We uh…” A wince, a frown, the memory of Daniel’s lifeless eyes staring at her as she was pinned down and arrested. “Someone killed him and framed me. Stabbed him to death.”

Karen hadn’t expected that innocent of a question to feel like a punch in the gut, but it was: a ghostly feeling of sticky blood, the weight of a knife in her hand, the squelching drip of blood on carpet all came flooding back to her. She swallowed down the sudden taste of acrid bile that rose in the back of her throat and nodded, moving over to grab the butter knife from the drawer so they could halve the bagels. “Here you go,” she said as she handed the knife over handle first, settling down in her chair and blowing at the lid of her coffee cup to cool the steamy liquid inside.
