Fun fact: when I was younger my dad told me that the German national anthem had a line that said “Germany over everyone” and little me somehow interpreted that as the German national anthem being “We Are the Champions” by Queen. I thought this for years.

POCD positivity for anyone who might need it ❤️

Having OCD is hell enough on its own but having POCD intrusive thoughts are the ones that make me really hate myself and make me want to curl up in a ball and never wake up. I love kids, I’ve babysat for as long as I’ve been able and I really want my own kids someday but the fear of what I think I might do them is debilitating and horrifying. I just want to be happy.

Having OCD is like playing repeated games of tug-of-war with your brain, only you always lose, and instead of falling into a mud pit you fall off a cliff and break all 206 of your bones.

A reminder that if you have intrusive thoughts about hurting someone, that does not make you a bad person.

I don’t care how vile the thought is. I don’t even care if you think there’s a part of you that wants to act on it. What matters is that you don’t act on it.

The thoughts that pop into your head are scary enough. You don’t have to add guilt over those thoughts into the mix.
