AW YUS Idea One: the boys did try to travel, but instead of with a Vespa they travel through the ocean. They eventually find a dock where a ship is loading cargo and sneak on, now looking human. They get found by a well known sea monster hunter- Captain Massimo Marcovaldo. Ill add the other ones later.

Who's paying for Luca's school?

After watching the movie three (3) times, I been asking myself "how is Luca able to go to school?"

His nonna says that "Alberto talked with Giulia parents" (and I think specifically Giulia mom).

Alberto also sold the Vespa to buy the ticket. And decide to stay in Portorosso because "Massimo asked him/told him".

While I don't doubt that Massimo would help to cost the school (that man is an ANGEL™), or that Luca parents would help Massimo in the fishing so they can have money; I think the person who's paying totally (or the most) is:

Alberto

He talked with Giulia parents, and probably Luca parents to convince them.

Convinced (probably) Giulia mother to let Luca to stay with them.

Sold their precious Vespa to buy the ticket.

Decide to stay in Portorosso "because Massimo", but probably to be able to gain his money helping him with the fishing, so he can help or pay totally for Luca school.

Ok, i love this theory, but i need to add something a lot of people tend to forget:

Italian schools aren't pricy, especially elementary and middle school. Private education Is kinda rare here, kids usually go to public schools. Giulia doesn't look like she goes to a private school at all, so this discourse can't be made about school payment. It can however still be relevant about food and other things i guess.

In the movie I think they actually mention that they pay for school. I'm pretty sure Giulia says in passing that it requires a bit of money
