We visited my old neighborhood in Maryland, and I got to see cicadas in the first place I saw them 17 years ago. Home.
I am a very lucky girl!! Early June, my owner took me and the doggies on a road trip up to Maryland so I could get to see the 17-year cicadas. I saw them for the first time when I was a kid, 11 years old and fascinated. This year, I was really really sad that I would miss them this time, since I donāt live there anymore. My owner made it possible for us to go see them, and Iām really happy we got to experience this awesome phenomenon together! I just cannot express just how incredibly grateful I am. He took me home. We got to see and hear many cicadas, eat Maryland blue crabs together, and even go to the Zoo (which he has never done before!) And, it was our youngest dog Juniperās first road trip with us too. We are already thinking about our next trip together š
Posting about a week late, but. 12 years now Iāve been with my partner. I love you greatly! š„°
(and since I missed doing a drawing for last year, I included 11 in this one too)
12 years--that's over 40% of my entire life. This year I have been feeling particularly nostalgic... That 40%? I'm glad I gave it to you.
My Name
A long time ago, I told him I hated my birth name. āI wish I couldāve been named something cool, like āHollyā or āRiley.āā
āDo you want to be named āRiley?āā he asked me.
I nodded. Yeah.
āWell guess what, Riley? I love you.ā
And that was that.
-------------------------------------------------------
Riley.
That is the name my owner gave me.
It means ārighteousā or ācourage.ā If you asked my owner, given the way he talks about me sometimes, he would maybe say thatās fitting. And I hope it is. I hope that even when I am filled with fear, I live up to that name.
I am honored to have such a name.
My legal name change went through!!
I got the fancy official papers in the mail today. I now officially have my chosen name--the name my owner gave to me--and my ownerās last name. I have rid myself of the stain of my fatherās name, and received the name that feels like me. I have wanted this for years. It feels so good, so warm, so right to finally have my name. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Master.
Today was one of my favorite days of the year--my ownerās birthday! Itās also Veteranās Day and since he is a veteran itās like a double celebration! I love it.
I designed this demon summoning circle for him, and I painted it in my blood for him as a gift for his birthday. Blood is very intimate to me, and beautiful in its color and its significance. So this unique symbol of my loyalty and devotion to him, on top of it being painted in my own blood (which was...not easy for me to acquire... ; w;) is something that contains all of my love š
With his permission, I would like to get this tattooed on my back someday
Happy National Boss Day, Owner! šš
I created a pork chop recipe specifically for my pork chop-hating owner and he liked them and gave me some very high praise!! Turned a very bad day into a good one in the end. I love him and I am very happy he liked my recipe so much! š„°
This scene hit me right in the feels. I love this line so much, and it resonates with me a lot on so many levels..
Yeah that's pretty much how it happened š
a love note to my Owner
I guess what I really wanted to say the other night, was that I am feeling happier now that you donāt feel so far away anymore. So please, please stay... I want to stay close to you.
On a happier note, my owner let me get something Iāve always wanted--an animal ear/paw hat! I found an artist that makes them entirely custom so I drafted a design with my āyote colors; the second image shows my fabric choices I picked out. Iām really excited! I think itās gonna be really comfy and cute and--it should get here by my birthday!! š
Recently my owner received some speculative medical news which leaves him unable to eat a wide variety of delicious foods for at least 6 weeks, and perhaps indefinitely. On the list are things like butter, eggs, and chocolate, as well as things like red meats and cheese. Perhaps itās silly, but this has been absolutely devastating to me.
I am a baker. Making cakes, cookies, muffins, candies, and all manner of other treats is not only one of my main hobbies, but cooking tasty foods for my owner is also one of my favorite--if not my absolute favorite!--way to express my love and serve him. The idea of no longer being able to make these things for him just breaks my heart. It saddens me to see him unable to eat many of his favorite foods. Not being able to share these foods with him also takes a lot of the joy out of eating them for me, and I already struggle with feeling ashamed about eating and undeserving of treats anyways. If this is not enough, I have a difficult enough time dealing with big change anyways (especially when itās sudden.) So I have been pretty crushed by all of this, and of course really worried for his health on top of it all.
I am scared and sad and I feel guilty for being scared and sad because this has left my owner needing to comfort and reassure me, and while I am beyond grateful to belong to someone who takes care of me like this, I feel like thatās not fair because heās the one this is happening to in the first place! I am trying my best to focus my efforts on creating new foods that he can eat for now, but I am having a hard time and I feel like he is too even if he says otherwise. He seemed so sad today, and didnāt even crack a smile at my attempt at an inside joke about āfat free dressingā that I bought for him. I am trying very hard to be Good. I hope he can feel it.
Dog Girls vs. Cat Girls
My beautiful tag for my collar. All the artwork, down to the fonts, was designed by me and approved by my owner. I really like how it came out, and it's so nice to wear a tag again! I can't stop playing with it, I love to fiddle with it and feel the etched design and think about the meaning behind it š
My new collar š
This collar is hands down the most comfortable (and I think, cutest!) collar I've ever worn. The material doesnāt irritate my sensitive skin. It fits perfectly--it's very soft and flexible, itās lightweight but still just solid enough to lovingly remind me that it's there. And I love the colors too :3
