I like pink and dresses and art and music and fashion. I also like blue and sports and comics and I choose not to wear makeup and have had short hair for the past five years. I am a person with feminine and masculine interests. I have not been socialized to be more feminine, I have adopted new interest, grown as a person and learned to embrace both my feminine and my masculine sides.

If you want to do a feminist reading on this silly ass comic about how I’ve changed over the past decade maybe you should look at why I actively avoided things typically viewed as “feminine”.

You’re not helping feminism by making me feel like I don’t have control over myself. You’re not helping feminism by shaming girls who consider themselves more feminine than masculine.

ALSO i find that a lot of people (not all, of course) who say things like “UGH i hate pink and dresses and girly stuff” are trying to distance themselves from stereotypically feminine things, because a woman that takes control of her femininity and enjoys it is looked down upon. women are shamed for being too girly.

so when a young girl talks about how much she is DISGUSTED by femininity, i cant help but feel like she’s been told by society that it’s wrong to be feminine, and she’s trying to raise herself above that by insulting women who enjoy that. its like girls who are like “im not like those OTHER girls, i play video games and sports, i have a ton of friends who are guys because i jsut cant stand girl DRAMA” like they feel they have to justify their womanhood by insulting femininity/feminine women, instead of just existing and enjoying what they enjoy
