I've seen people worrying about Moodeng and Khao Kheow zoo in general, can't help but also notice literally everyone making accusations are foreigners who are not Thai/local and doesn't actually know about the zoo outside of socmed....
thankfully, some people are correcting the misinformation, as a fellow Thai and supporter of Khao Kheow zoo, I feel obligated to share it here
(^ this exactly!! there are a lot of zoos to attack in Thailand, Khao Kheow is NOT one of them. in term of both quality and ethics Khao Kheow is one of the best in Thailand, not a super high bar but yk)

want to also add, the "Pang" is Pang Jim is a title! Pang is for female elephants, while males are Plai. so it's like elephants have their own version of Ms. and Mr. haha, I find that cute

I have my own opinions to add, if you want to be mad at someone for the state of the zoo, be mad at the government for not funding them. khao kheow almost went bankrupt numerous times, especially during covid when the staffs had to pay out of their own pockets to keep the zoo running, when staffs accepted to have their salaries cut just to keep feeding the animals. the popularity of moodeng and the fact that the zoo gets more funds now due to influx of visitors should be celebrated!!!!! and their conservatory efforts despite working with so little should be praised!!!!!!!!
