Awesome food and good company after a tiring day, what more can you ask for? #PuñtaManila (at Puñta Manila)
My respect and love are only for those who deserve it.
I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing. So, never mistake my kindness for being timid and abuse my patience.
If there's one thing in school that you can actually learn and immediately apply to life 24/7, it's this: "STRICTLY NO ERASURES."
Grab the opportunity
Contrary to common belief, Volleyball, in my opinion is at par with Basketball to be considered as one of the fiercest and intense sports to play in. Today, the water continues to boil as more and more people come together to enjoy the sport with those of us who've enjoyed it since Elementary or High school. Although, I may not have qualified to participate in the Palarong Pambansa during my younger years or may not even be considered as a great player, the love I have for the sport is what keeps me combing back for more and it still continues to burn within me today and always will until I'll have my own death certificate. I am going to be a Captain ball again next school year and this will the second opportunity I've had since Undergrad. I hope I can serve my team as much or hopefully, more than what I've given to my old team. There might be few of those greater than me who doubt my capabilities to lead, but the key here is to define a leader. Of course leaders have qualifications; most inspirational speakers would give us a handful of requirements, but I guess what would stand out is that a leader should be exemplary at the field of which I can honestly say I'm not. I am simply knowledgeable about the sport, I know most of the rules, or at least I can proudly say that I can still play far better than any non-practiced PE student can. I have also played with and against great athletes(both in Davao City or those that have basked in the limelight in our melting pot that is our Capital.) With regards to the social aspect, the experiences I've gained through Volleyball and those great people have given me the emotional maturity I needed both in and out of the court. I may be weak-spirited at times and my annoying lack of self-esteem recurs, but other than that, it was only due to the sport, wherein I've come where I am now. I've grown through my myriad of failures and through the sermons of my mentors. I've grown from being a one-sided idiot to an understanding teammate and I've grown from being a follower all my life and I can proudly say that apart from also accepting the executive role of being stressed out due to procuring and processing the team's documents, I'm up for the challenge to be a leader of a graduate school volleyball team. All of this is because I love the sport. You don't need to be a master to love a sport, you don't need to know every international or local player and their teams’ updates to love the sport. You love it because of the heat, that thrill and excitement you feel that makes your blood boil whenever you see a "kill" or a "dig" and most especially, that magical "set" setters do with their hands that suddenly leaves players and spectators speechless whenever no one is there to block or pick the ball. I may not be one of the greats or I may not be as fit as I would like to be, but next school year will be different. I'll take back the drive I once had in college to aim for the top. No longer will the excuse of being a BUSY, OUT OF PRACTICE, MEDICAL STUDENT get in the way of my other dream. I'll train and not forsake my studies, I'll work hard to earn the right to be a leader and in doing so, also hope to bring back the hunger to win every single match within my teammates' souls. Because to tell you the truth, I'm tired of all the excuses I've been feeding myself and that which has plagued our team for quite a while. I want to truly prove that the UST-FMS IS a team to be reckoned with, other teams know that, but if we don't even believe it ourselves, who truly will? I'll dream big. I hope my teammates do as well… and if I fail to accomplish this, it’ll be okay, because in the end, it’s what we do with what we’re given that matters and the thought of having the privilege to lead the UST-FMS MVT and to have the opportunity to even dream big with the team makes my heart contented.
For the Love of the Game
It's funny how the simplest of things make your life so worth living even when all you really get from it is emotional satisfaction... Let's face it, Volleyball really is simply a sport. Here in our country, you'll never get anywhere really far with only the sport. Yet you see people still managing to live by simply being around the sport. They may not have what billionaires have, but they know what truly makes them happy and that's enough... and I envy them for that.
The stuffed toy was supposed to be for valentine's day, but my parents gave it a wee bit early. Well anyway, you don't need special occasions to show someone some extra effort. :)) #palusot
Distance is difficult only because you think it's difficult. The trouble with a relationship is in the word itself... It doesn't matter if you try your best, if the other doesn't do their fair share of effort, all of it is bound to crumble.
The Biology of Relationships
Think of relationships as a separate entity. Think of it as your child... Two hearts molded into one and a relationship is born... Its organ systems are composed of the key parts of a relationship... Its brain for decision making and consciousness are your experiences as individuals and are cultivated through time. Its integumentary system is your pride protecting it from harm(or minsan sobrang kapal naman). While, its skeletal system is your commitment to one another that makes the relationship ambulatory. Its gastrointestinal and urinary system is your anger and selfishness which requires regular excretion and filtration. But most important, its heart, is the trust shared between the two individuals... Trust is what propels a relationship to thrive, trust provides the "oxygen" and "nutrients" needed by each organ system... Trust is what makes adjustments either to increase or decrease the need for "oxygen" depending on the situation. On another point, we have "inflammatory reactions" which are represented by struggles and arguments... An "Inflammatory reaction"(for example during a "bacterial infection") is vital for the relationship to have an idea that something is wrong within it. So that the relationship can either try to fix itself within or find external sources for remedy. Sometimes, "infections" can either build up immune defenses to prevent recurrence or the relationship can try to find therapy/medication to alleviate the signs and symptoms. However, when the relationship can no longer cope with the pathology, it can simply just die... As "Relationship" being a separate entity, the two individuals' role as its "parent" is to make sure their child is well and healthy... Sometimes, illness cannot be prevented, but there is always a cure for those who want and need it...
There are times when the heart hungers, but cannot be satisfied. Feed the hungry stomach instead. At least one part of you gets to be satisfied.
Writing down your thoughts when you can't actually share or say them, definitely counts as first aid for the heart.
It's funny how we seek for advice... We hear, but do not listen until we find a person who gives an opinion that fits our own. We are comforted that someone agrees, but only for a while... Then we end up just moving to and fro like a lifeless water bottle on the shoreline-- Lost.
I would never have enough time when I'm with you. I'd beg the heavens for extended hours. My appetite to crave for more time with you is endless. I miss you everyday of forever...
