How to be a successful Elite Notetaker #2

I promise, being a successful Elite Notetaker is not hard at all. During my freshmen year, I have earned almost 4k with StudySoup as an Elite Notetaker. And I am going to share some tips and tricks with you!

First of all, pay attention during the webinar. When you sign up for the online session, the regional leads will prepare you to become an awesome Elite Notetaker! Your regional lead will tell you all the perks, responsibilities, and opportunities you will have. It is very important to know all three requirements, and don’t forget to follow along with the practice upload during the training session so you can be 100% certain with the uploading process!

Afterwards, you should finish your successful checklist, and make sure you are all set to go! If you don’t know your exam dates, it’s totally fine. You can either email your professor or update it onto your StudySoup account once you got the dates. The sooner you start in a semester the better of course! Also, never be too shy to share your notes. When I first started as an Elite Notetaker, I thought it’d be super awkward for 300+ of my classmates know that I’m trying to sell them my notes. But to be honest, you are saving their lives!!! I got so many emails from my classmates around the exam times asking if I could upload the study guides asap so they could study with it since the guides were really helpful to them in the past exams. It’s really nice to hear from some of them saying they got As because of the guides you uploaded.

Last, I would say choosing the right class to take notes for is really important. Although I am a sophomore now, but I am taking junior classes already. All of my classes are not very note-intensive. Based on my experience, essay, and project-based classes are not the perfect fit for StudySoup. But, I do resell my old notes from previous classes I took! Since I didn’t remove my notes on StudySoup, I still get sales with my PSY101 or ASB222 notes.

My StudySoup Story Chp2

If you’ve read my last story, you’ll know a lot about how I join StudySoup, and how StudySoup helped me become successful in school as a freshman. 7 months later, I decided to update my current life in the StudySoup community with you all. First of all, I love being a regional lead! I have been a regional lead for almost 2 semesters now and I love the fast-paced, fun, and exciting atmosphere!  I am overseeing several schools along the West Coast, and it’s great to see the ENs that you’ve trained before becoming the CM that you contact weekly! I love how StudySoup is building a community on Mightybell, too. I enjoy reading things that other members posted, having conversations with other ENs or CMs and get to know them! Knowing that we are all working towards the same goal, which is helping our classmates by selling notes, even makes the community stronger. With that being said, I also worked in several different positions with StudySoup throughout the past months. I joined the “ninja team” and bought over 5k worth of books so college students like myself don’t need to worry about where to sell their textbooks. I love seeing people’s relieved faces when I go to their apartments or houses and unloaded books that they’ll never read. I also learned a lot about being efficient, proactive for outreach and more. In addition, I started to work with the Head of Operations as a Marketing Operations Manager this Fall semester. I enjoyed managing over 100+ marketing coordinators over 40+ campuses in the States, helping them to success in pitching with various strategies and seeing them generating hundreds of leads within a short period of time! ASU, where I main the team in person, we got over 1.2k leads throughout the campaign period!! I’m super proud of all the members I’ve contact with because everyone was learning so much with StudySoup!! My StudySoup Story

Joining StudySoup was an extraordinary experience for me. I am originally Taiwanese, but I was in the United Kingdom for the past two years to finish my International Baccalaureate degree. Either way, I am really new to the United States. I have been here for vacation dozen of times, yet I have never stayed here long enough to know how to earn money. College life is tough. Tuition is too expensive and I had to pay all my bills for the first time. I needed money desperately. What’s worse, I broke my phone before I came to the states; thus, I searched “how to earn money fast” on Google.

StudySoup showed up on one of the article I was reading. At first, I was really uncertain about the service and legibility. However, I went through the group training and every confusion was cleared out. I still didn’t believe anyone would buy my notes, but I decided to try with one study guide in one class. Surprisingly, the result was amazing! I got A in that exam plus $430 within 4 days! I could finally afford the phone I wanted to buy! After since, I started to sell notes in 3 classes and in three months, I got $1662! Moreover, I was the Top Elite Notetaker, and I was rewarded with $50 Chipotle gift card. (Despite the food scandal, their rice bowl was amazing anyway!!)

I thought my good time of hearing phone ringing for incomes is over since the semester had come to an end, then I got a phone call from the onboarding manager! Guess what… I got a job offer to be a Regional Lead for the next semester! I not only earn extra $20/hour by holding webinars, I also gain so much experiences on leadership skills, customer service, communication, etc. Ever since I joined StudySoup, my resume as a freshman (!!) has been filled up with so many different things I’ve done! And the most exciting part is that this can happen anyone as long as you are willing to try!

How to become a successful Elite Notetaker?

When I first hear about StudySoup, I couldn’t believe that I would be earning money online by selling my notes and study guides. I didn’t expect myself to earn over $1600 within three months. I didn’t realise I would even be rewarded for the Top Elite Notetaker Prize. As a freshman who came from Britain, knowing nothing about the states, I was willing to try. I believe that intention is the first step toward success. Never be afraid of sharing your weekly notes or study guide. A lot of people might think it’s awkward that you are selling notes to your classmates. Yet, you are actually providing helps to your classmates!

In addition, choosing classes is very important. My most popular study guide was sold in a class with over 300 people. It is mandatory to go to classes since there were not much information on the slides that professor provided. He also required us to watch films and read books for exams. Such note-intensive course is the best pick for note taking. Seizing the opportunity that the class required such a huge workload, I not only share the links once but also send out a follow-up email with the links when the exam is getting really close.

Last of all, I personally prefer outline format for all of my notes. I take notes with Evernote, then I’d transfer my notes to Google doc and export them as pdf file. This way, I can be 100% certain that all my buyers will receive a neat study guide or weekly note. I tend not to hand written anything just in case someone might not be able to read my handwriting. Typing notes is more efficient for me during lectures as well since the professor tend to talk a lot and relatively fast. Due to my note taking habit, I have been getting all A or A+ in all my classes throughout last semester. I was not expecting a 4.12 GPA, yet thanks to StudySoup, I get to keep up with the studies!
