I've been confused about this for a bit and maybe I'm missing something obvious, but why is Hanako treated as responsible for Aoi dying in place of Nene? Like yes, he's clearly aware of the possibility, but for the life of me I can't tell what he's meant to have done to cause it. As far as I can tell he didn't lead Number 6 to Aoi or tell him to take her, he didn't try to stop Nene and Akane from rescuing her even if he didn't go out of his way to help, he prevented Nene from being sacrificed but Aoi was already in The Boundary and as good as dead, and he wasn't the one to throw Aoi into The Boundary, that was Akane. I'm just not sure why Hanako is to blame when I can't tell that he actively interfered to make sure Aoi died in place of Nene, rather than just letting things unfold the way they did because it worked best for his goals.

Again, if I'm missing something, please let me know, because Hanako himself acts like he did something but it's driving me nuts that I can't figure out what.

I heard you mention Kekkai Sensen/Nightow on the Guess that Tune stream and since I’m currently in the throes of a Trigun addiction, I wanted to know if you’ve seen Trigun (98 or Stampede), and if so, what are your thoughts on it?

Also is Kekkai Sensen good? all I know about it os that its ending song SLAPS

Yea, you know, that one manga with the dopey-looking goofball protagonist who's actually concealing untold eldritch power he can't really control that hurts him when he overuses it, who grapples with intense guilt over his role in being passively complicit with something terrible that happened to a woman he loves even though she doesn't hold it against him and in fact made an active self-sacrifice to protect him, and now he hangs out with a crew of extremely cool people even though he's basically non-combat, and they all live in a world that's built a workable life and civilization out of the remnants of a literal apocalyptic nightmare event. That one manga by that one guy. Fun stuff!

I think at this point I've finished every form of Trigun media, although I read through the manga a while back and don't remember a lot of the details. I like it a lot! I really respect any story that unpacks the true depth and difficulty of being a pacifistic hero, and how it can take more strength and sacrifice to not hurt people. I think I liked Stampede a lot, although it took me a few rants to come to that conclusion.

I watched the first season of Kekkai Sensen and liked it, but I honestly couldn't tell you much about why. I just had a nice time with it, I really liked the protagonist's whole Vibe and the character designs were top notch. I'm also a sucker for urban fantasy in general, so "New York experienced a lovecraftian apocalypse and everybody just kinda Deals With It" was perfect for me. Also I was so used to "anime character has their eyes always shut" that I legitimately didn't clock that anything was weird about the protagonist's eyes until he busted out his Crazy Powers - I even had a false memory that he'd opened them earlier and they were normal, it's just such an invisible trope. I thought that was cute!

Kekkai Sensen is one of those series where I can't really speak much for the overall plot, but the Vibes of the world and its inhabitants, and the characters's charisma in their personalities, designs, and interactions are so on point that I love it. Legitimately my favorite episodes of the first season are just Leo bumming around with Black and Klaus punching his way through a underground fight club - oh yeah, the action is also top notch!

Season 2 I feel is also very underrated, especially if the "slice of life in a post-apocolypse urban fantasy setting" is your jam.

hooo boy this piece. took a bit to get it to where I was happy with it; I even preemptively designed their clothing, which is something I never do for any of my art. and I'm very very happy with the outcome :D

initially I wanted Ren's cape to be ashen gray (like his 3rd life skin), but the blood dripping down would stain it red and form the pattern of the red army banner. sadly though I couldn't make it work :[ still incorporated the blood motifs though hehe

oh and the lunar eclipse is a direct contrast to the full moon under which Ren was decapitated crowned the Red King by Martyn :]
