I confronted a man who used this word in a “baddie” way. (Pls there is nothing that makes me feel badass about being called this). And ALSO a man using a word that historically and still CURRENTLY is used as a slur towards women !!!!

I told him it was a misogynistic word, he replied saying he wasn’t a misogynist and that he respects women (to be honest - I do think he does). HOWEVER - he still continued to misunderstand that this word is a slur and he can “use any words he wishes” despite knowing it’s a misogynistic slur??? What I was trying to do is explain this use of the word.

OP made this unrebloggable so I'm re-sharing my commentary here.

also another facet of female loneliness is knowing that everyone - EVERYONE - every. single. person. you ever meet is going to have a default lower empathy level for your suffering. even the most switched on feminist women are still unlearning ingrained socialisation that places women's pain, trauma and discomfort on a lower level than mens. there is no place you can go where you can just automatically expect people to have a consistent and sustained high empathy level for you, let alone that they're willing to go the extra mile to look after you if you need it. you're forever slightly more alone with regards to other's compassion towards your suffering, but you're also conditioned to have lower compassion and empathy levels for yourself. you're lonely inside your own mind, too.

I’m v averse to women calling themselves gay instead of lesbian. God forbid someone bisexual calls themself gay also?

My thoughts are:

If a bisexual man calls themselves gay, you would assume he is only attracted to men. When a lesbian woman calls themselves gay, it’s a way of desexualising themselves and avoiding shame (understandable). Bisexual men might do this for the same reason.

IMO…

Gay = man with same sex attraction towards men

Lesbian = woman with same sex attraction towards women

Bisexual = bisexual man or bisexual woman attracted to both the same sex and opposite sex
