time loop with two people in it but one person refuses to acknowledge the loop and pretends to be looping with everyone else. meanwhile the other person is freaking out
Every now and then I remember the Mzan adventure game version of Phantom of the Opera which makes the Phantom more attractive whilst simultaneously removing the love triangle aspect for the purposes of making Erik a conniving and ultimately pathetic regular french guy.

This being said, we have a fair few grievences with her appearence in Nademonogatari, at least more than anything else in the show thus far.
Not her physical appearence but rather the framing of if.
This has come out of order, skipping over Sodachi Fiasco, and is a scene that showcases her growth since as she has been fighting her anxieties (to summarise). And that would be one thing, but for some reason, the framing of this scene is odd.
It has the same lines but, 'I tried changing my image, but it didnt't work' then being equated similarly to university and living alone, implies they have been done and sort of failed? It makes the whole thing seem dour, she's still struggling.
If you took this scene by itself, it would seem as if she dropped out, or if she was in university, she got out quite some time ago.
But the reality, from in the novels, is that she's been in university for just two months. She's still studying even. And she even talks about the fact she's studying maths in university, entirely removed from the anime.
Taking this post Sodachi Fiasco though, and with the extra novel details, you can see that she's dealing with everything better. With Fiasco, you get to see how she deals with everything from her perspective, divorced from the trauma processing and innate vitriol and desperate coping with Araragi. So her scene in Nadeko Draw, has her pushing forward from Fiasco.
I love seeing her again, but it just feels a bit lacking, because of how it's ordered.
The way they cut from this to the next scene took me the hell out, what a hell of a way to add to a minor character during the last episode of the run.
Having a weird experience of reading a cathartic manga and also feeling upset about an IRL thing at the same time and the sadnesses are completely cancelling out. No crying.
i think the thing that gets me the most about fantasy coffee discourse is that none of the writers who feel intruded upon seem to be able to consider that they can just make their foreign policy. like. good for both parties. you're writing you can just do that.
"the people of Yemen the desert lands traded coffee to Europe the main character lands centuries ago, before it spread all over the world"
A lot of Discourse manages to pass me by until the first I hear of it is someone talking about it, rather than really engaging in it... are people seriously arguing that a fantasy world can't/shouldn't have coffee in it because the region of Earth that coffee originated from doesn't exist in the fictional fantasy world?
the criticism is that people include real world elements in their storytelling without considering the ramifications. coffee or new world plants like corn, potatoes, and peppers are the best example of this. people take it for granted that a setting resembling europe will have these things, despite them being new introductions in the grand scheme of things. there's a post from a while ago about how even Tolkien, who thought so much about his worldbuilding, failed to account for this
the point isn't that these things can't exist, but that they shouldn't be taken for granted in European-style fantasy, or else it is a form of literary colonialism, claiming these things for Europe as having always been European. the plea is not to totally exclude them, but to simply think about your world and consider how these foreign elements would come to be in the places they are
a lot of people with reactionary impulses reject this and claim that they shouldn't have to think about these things and that it's stupid to consider them. that's the kind of person Aria was talking about, for the record

i know most leftists agree that everybody should have a right to food, water, shelter, and healthcare but i think a vitally important fifth pillar is privacy. people should not be compelled to be tracked, monitored, or to share personal space with others to access their other essential rights
"If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" is and always has been fascist rhetoric everyone.
It's so funny how Clawizter's Ultra Sun dex entry immediately backpedals the idea to:
It compresses the water it has sucked up and then projects it with enough power to punch a hole right through a thick sheet of iron.
[GameFreak staff voice] We've gotta stop implying infinite pokemon on human violence...
I went to check, Dragalge is also considerably less violent in Gen 7 lol. It goes back to murdering tankers in Gen 8 though

but do you play shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid more to work less 🤨
the thing about "I want shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid more to work less and I'm not kidding" is that these games exist and are out there and you have to make the conscious choice to seek them out instead of just expecting the big companies to deliver this, because they will not
i have to do this
