This is my first year in winterguard and our first competition is in a month... Any tips or specific items to bring to competitions? Thanks!

Lol I’m always such an overpacker for shoes; I’m always so overprepared. This is generally what you’ll find in my bag:

Costume items/performance blacks

Hair spray

Hair ties

Bobbie pins

Deodorant

Body spray of some sort, preferably not too strong

Chapstick

Lipstick

Makeup stuff, like foundation, coverup, eyeshadow, blush, mascara, eyeliner!!!, brushes, etc.

Guard tape just in case, especially if you spin weapon

ID stuff

Extra cash

Water bottle!

Painkillers (nothing worse than trying to perform at a competition with a migraine, let me tell you)

Flip-flops or shoes or slippers or whatever your guard wears on site

Guard jacket!

If it’s cold, gloves

Sunglasses

Phone charger

Extra snacks, like granola bars or pretzels

Gum

I always pack anything you usually take with me to practice, then pack uniform essentials (like the costume, hair stuff, makeup stuff), and then just a couple extra stuff (like snacks and money and gum and especially sunglasses because I’m always blinded in cars) for the ride there and personal time after your performance.
