one of my favorite tropes under the "hurt no comfort" genre is where the person in the partnership who wants to die ends up living, while the person who wanted only to live (and, in some cases, help the other person live in the process) ends up dying.

you always start by meeting this character who hates the idea of existence, who ends up FINALLY finding a reason to live in that sunshine character, only to see the sunshine character cruelly ripped away from them.

So now, instead of just hating the idea of existence like they already did, they hate the idea of having to exist without that one person. They finally got a taste of what it feels like to be loved, only to have that feeling be stolen by this cruel existence that only got crueler because they decided to finally try to live.

so they go back to living life like they did before that person came along; with that same dead look in their eyes. But, this time, instead of having an "absence of light" because there had never been light to begin with, they have darkness in their eyes because they did. Because they used to, and now it's gone.

because if someone who has experienced light in their life before gets thrown into darkness, they'll be more disoriented than someone who's never been out of the dark.

Random head cannon about SKK:

They both still have each others number but they’re blocked.

They both still text eachother things they wanted to say to eachother but never got the chance. Chuuya would send send stuff like

“What the hell is wrong with you?! why did you just up and leave me?!”

Stuff like that. Complaining and angry that Dazai left him. But he’s also catch him up on all the dumb things that has happened as if he was still able to have a full on conversation about them.

Meanwhile Dazai is like
