Hallo, salam my name is Elie (they/them) and I’m a trans*nb chronically ill autistic person.

I am resuming my physics degree after a health break, and this is my studyblr/physicsblr/stemblr.

My other interests include reading, writing, architecture and design, and Islam. I am an intersectional feminist, live plant-based, and am passionate about human rights, animal welfare and protecting the planet. I co-founded an islamic collective with some social/political activist friends and will talk about that from time to time.

This is a space of acceptance, mutual respect, and diversity. I will not tolerate any kind of hate or discrimination towards minorities and marginalised communities. Do not interact if you can’t be a decent person.

I‘m preparing for a very mathy semester by studying the concepts that always used to make me go ??? and I think I understand some of them now. Sometimes my autistic brain is a curse in maths-heavy subjects, because I need to understand concepts really deeply in order to, you know, understand and be able to use them in my calculations, which means I have to spend a lot of time doing research that goes beyond what my professors mention during their lectures, or else my brain will refuse to comprehend them. I guess it’s also a blessing in disguise, because really understanding things is good for building on what I learn in future classes, but still—

the first academic week of my last year in grad school is now finished :)

tomorrow i have a training shift at my new job, then i’ll go to the big main branch of the city library to read and complete assignments for next week’s classes and (try) to start writing my thesis.

on Friday i want to see “honey, don’t” with my roommate. and this weekend i might go home to visit my grandmother and cousin.

waiting on the book i requested from the library to arrive, and hoping that waking up gets easier, eventually.
